Not sure what you mean by 'I can't search on dustance'? You can filter the results you see based on you preferred distance even on the free option.

You can also change location on Hinge for free and set the distance from that point, you have to pay for that with Bumble though via travel mode.

Paying on Hinge gives you unlimited likes, which is the only way to go if you are out in the sticks, will give you repetitive strain injury with all the presses on "no" though biggrin

In other news, just back from the most bizarre first date ever, I really know how to pick them.

It turned out she was a clinical psychologist specialising in narcissism (she had avoided saying what she did in all the messaging leading upto the date)

By the end of said date she was displaying all the same traits of those that she actually identified in her field, whilst completely oblivious to the fact! banghead

There won't be a second one.

Funny you should say that, as she claimed after a while to have been a victim of narcissistic abuse, which is why she said she then decided to specialise in the field, Thinking about it more she may have actually been a fantasist, as other things did not add up now I have had time to think it all through again.

Things like dropping into the conversation some time into the date that the name she used on the profile was not actually hers, never mentioned that once in the week of messaging beforehand or for the first hour of the date, claimed it was because she had a local stalker, christ the more I write this all down the more weird it all starts to become.

I have only scratched the surface so far, I really am a soft touch at times, I should actually have stood up and walked off at one point, but gave her the benefit of the doubt and let her carry on when she started to rant.

Although it is a topic that I have a level of interest in, after a while I kept trying to divert the conversation onto other more light hearted topics, but she slowly got back to the narrative she seemed to thrive in.

Single life getting more appealing by the day......

Why would someone give me their Telegram address or whatever it's called,in their 2nd message?
I presume it's a scam ? I know nothing about Telegram

Isn’t Telegram pretty much just WhatsApp for paranoid people who don’t trust WhatsApp?

Yup, and you don't need the other person's number from memory

nono... Signal is for those who justifiably wouldn't trust Meta to run a sandwich kiosk. Telegram is more for drug dealers and far right extremists and other terrorists.

On the subject of alt messaging apps, is KiK still a thing? That was a surreal experience for a few weeks

A very slick Scammer on Hinge ( and probably Match and Tinder as well ) calls itself “ Rafaela”
I strung “ It along “ for several days.

“ It “ says it lives in Mayfair, keeps “ it’s “ Horses in Richmond, has a driver to pick “ her “ up and sent me a photo of a black people carrier on Sunday morning.
Asked for my number really quickly, we w apped for several days, then on Sunday lunchtime it sent me a bolshy message and then blocked my number and disappeared from Hinge as well.
I called the number from another phone and the number doesn’t exit.

Isn't that a Candygram? Which I suppose, in the context of online dating, might be useful if you want to take things further

Chatting with a seemingly almost perfect lady on Tinder and even though her account was verified the spidey senses were tingling, a bit of google image searching and all photos were stolen, asked for a real photo and no surprise they unmatched.
A quick google and it is very easy for a scammer to get an account verified, they post a real photo of themself then follow the verification process, once confirmed they then replace the genuine photo with stolen photos.
