We got up and out uber early on Sunday and went to Rhosneigr Beach on Anglesey. Arrived just after 9am, parked about 20 yards from the beach, but it was foggy! Cleared up though and the place was absolutely rammed when we left at 4pm ish. Wouldn't like to live there with the all the streets just full with parked cars.
You're minutes away from the race circuit - anything on?
Aye, I knew the circuit was nearby and would like to have popped to have a look, but unfortunately I was with a 7 year old, a dog and the O/H and with it being Sunday and a Bank Holiday there was nothing flying in or out of Valley either!

Costa Teguise, Lanzarote.

Judging by the palm trees it's very windy as always for this part of the island - a right pain unless you're into sailing & stuff.

Went into Newquay for dinner. Last time I was there was ~40 years ago and as a child of ~10yo I thought it was a seaside town comparable with other seaside towns. But to my eyes it is now a total dump. Sorry if it holds anyone's heart here but I was horribly disappointed.

Crantock tomorrow.
Shocking isn’t it. If I never go there again in my lifetime, I’ll be delighted. Problem is, much of it has gone that way. Perranporth is another good example. Great beach but an absolute hell hole. Having grown up in Cornwall (Falmouth / Truro area), I’ve seen the changes and overall it’s not good in my opinion. I wouldn’t move back despite having lots of family and friends there. Of course, there are a few fantastic areas. As a general rule, stick to the south coast, pretty much anywhere around the Carrick Roads or the Helford River and you’ll be a million miles from Newquay etc.

There is a great spot on the NE coast of Anglesey - can get busy ish but due to location it does not get as busy as some places. I have been there on many BH weekends in the motorhome and can park on the beach no problems. Toilets and small café too.

North Norfolk coast on a bank holiday monday it’s a 1 hr drive (that can turn into two hours) and it’s going to be heaving right!!!!

Walked about 6.3 miles - very pleasant
Looks lovely and a part of the world I don’t know. Where is that if you don’t mind me asking?
That bit is just between Holkham Beach and Wells Beach (about 3 miles apart on north Norfolk Coast)

https://www.explorenorfolkuk.co.uk/holkham-beach.h...

It's one of our favorites if we borrow a dog or if we don't biggrin
Holkham beach is certainly one of the best beaches on the East coast,

last time we went it took us about 25 mins to get from the car park to the beach due to having to pass through a nature reserve, which probably explains why it was so deserted.
Went to Wells beach on Sunday. Never been to that area before but thought it was lovely. Problem was nowhere to park and a bit of a hike to the beach itself.

It was busy but the beach is so big it wasn’t too crowded and the sea was a great temperature for swimming. Will definitely come back to explore when it’s less busy.

We stayed with friends on the Saturday night and drove back to Southwest London Sunday evening. That took four hours. Would have been 3.5 but took ages to get round Kings Lynn.
we went to wells beach in may,
had a great time and managed to pick a really nice sunny day to go,
as a bonus when I went for a bit of a paddle with my daughter there was a seal splashing around just a few yards away in the water.
Holkham is also good fun for horses as well smile

South Devon too (Dartmouth etc). Swarm all over Cornwall. You won’t find many in the areas I’ve suggested.

I am more familiar with the Devon south coast. My brother has a lovely barn conversion near to Kingsbridge, and we have spent time there and playing with his boat on the estuary at Salcombe. In comparison, Newquay seems like a third world resort.

But I also dated a girl from Saltash so we did venture down the southern coast of Cornwall too, and you're right, it is better.

There are nice parts of the northern Devonshire coast but on the whole, I think we'll stick to the south in future.

Indeed. Mates in St Ives tell me it’s simply a no go zone these days, they don’t even bother going out any more.

Have you spent much time there or just looking out to sea?

Been 3 times - I stay in The Dunes, which are the new build flats on the front.
I am going for 3-4 weeks over Xmas and New Year to look at property and start to make some serious plans.

We looked at the new builds on Liskey Hill in the new year but decided to hold off as the best plots had gone.

Property is hardly cheap there. Never seen any trouble in the village we go out most nights?

No, mostly local accents or from the SE or NW (Manchester and Liverpool).

In fact it was the same on the south coast last time I went.

Again, not the last time I went to that area (4 years ago). It was mostly NE accents.

Used to be Brummies but not any longer.

Some good friends of my sister live in Perranporth. They own a very long established and successful family business there. Can’t miss it if you walk through the town. They are desperate to move out but can’t sell their house (well, I suppose they could if they slashed the price). Want to move to Aggie (much nicer but wouldn’t live there for different reasons, too incestuous). Just spend some time there, day and night and you’ll understand why (particularly in the summer). Don’t listen to kite flying estate agents when they talk about ‘up and coming’. The top agent down there is a school mate of mine (and lives on the south coast...), my strong impression is that the money is drying up.
