Meanwhile, every single living soul from the South of England seemed to want to get there one square yard of Brighton beach over the bank holiday weekend
Although it massively sucked working right over the weekend, I was glad to be driving trains away from Brighton rather than towards, they were like some vignette of a Mumbai rush hour documentary. Apparently the toilets failed on the prom too, so imagine how much human by-products were in the sea by the end of the day. A mate who lives in Brighton said he saw people just digging holes in the shingle and curling out brown trouts
Staycation? Nooooooo thankyou
That is my idea of utter hell. Why anyone would choose to be amongst that lot is beyond me. Although I live 20 miles away I have not visited the dump for 10 years & before that as rarely as was possible bearing in mind I was unlucky enough to have to do business in the place. Sadly Bournemouth is fast following in its footsteps.

Brighton is a dreadful place, full of weirdos, the odd & the unnatural, theatrical has-beens & the great unwashed benefit brigade. Horrible dirty beach of pebbles with a scattering of dog turd, used needles & all the detritus of modern-day uncivilised society - wonderful.

If you live in Crawley, I'll piss myself laughing. Although I live 20 miles away I have not visited the dump for 10 years & before that as rarely as was possible bearing in mind I was unlucky enough to have to do business in the place. Sadly Bournemouth is fast following in its footsteps.
What Brighton is full of is tourists. The single worst thing about the place and yet with out them, it wouldn't be Brighton.

Fistral for the last dog walk of the day. Plenty Johnny Utahs still in the sea. Didn't wait to see but suspect many stay until the light has gone completely.
a bit of a trek from the car park and had to work our way through a herd of cows, but worth it.

Looks lovely and a part of the world I don’t know. Where is that if you don’t mind me asking?https://www.explorenorfolkuk.co.uk/holkham-beach.h...
It's one of our favorites if we borrow a dog or if we don't
last time we went it took us about 25 mins to get from the car park to the beach due to having to pass through a nature reserve, which probably explains why it was so deserted.

It was busy but the beach is so big it wasn’t too crowded and the sea was a great temperature for swimming. Will definitely come back to explore when it’s less busy.
We stayed with friends on the Saturday night and drove back to Southwest London Sunday evening. That took four hours. Would have been 3.5 but took ages to get round Kings Lynn.
Oddicombe/Babbacombe (Torquay) was pretty busy on Sunday but clear enough for us not to be crowded around.
The little cove below our holiday let was a delight as well.
But was surprised how clear Goodrington Sands was considering it is wide open sandy beach and the weather on Monday was delightful.
Oh well, back in Sussex now.

had a great time and managed to pick a really nice sunny day to go,
as a bonus when I went for a bit of a paddle with my daughter there was a seal splashing around just a few yards away in the water.

Ah I love Crantock, and how quiet it is compared to Fistral. Haven't been down there for about 15 years but I suspect it is much the same?lovely beach, a lot quieter than fistral and big enough to spread out and explore
last time we went to fistral they were filming near the Headland hotel and had cordoned half the beach off.
We got up and out uber early on Sunday and went to Rhosneigr Beach on Anglesey. Arrived just after 9am, parked about 20 yards from the beach, but it was foggy! Cleared up though and the place was absolutely rammed when we left at 4pm ish. Wouldn't like to live there with the all the streets just full with parked cars.

You're minutes away from the race circuit - anything on?Went into Newquay for dinner. Last time I was there was ~40 years ago and as a child of ~10yo I thought it was a seaside town comparable with other seaside towns. But to my eyes it is now a total dump. Sorry if it holds anyone's heart here but I was horribly disappointed.
Crantock tomorrow.
Crantock tomorrow.
