My son is doing his Gold DofE this week on Dartmoor. Weather wise, it looks like it's going to be a stroll.

Colin's fault...

Keep an eye on the weather in Scotland for Friday. GFS is insisting on heavy snow from the borders up to around Aviemore, including the central belt.

I'd be inclined to bin it usually, but it's so insistent...
I'm in Edinburgh from tomorrow until Friday. smile

I have an off road competition this weekend over the central belt of Scotland.

Snow and cold temperatures could make it interesting.
Especially as a Land Rover 90 is legendary for its superb heater output and lack of drafts from the bodywork.....

I'd anticipate the settling snow to be confined to the hills. Snow at low levels in October is extremely rare (but did happen in 2010!).

We are lucky if we get 1.6mm on the costa del Fylde any winter.

Models firming up on Friday and it's shaping up to be thoroughly unpleasant.

Heavy rain across wide areas and up to 60mph winds across most of southern/mid England as it stands.

We have a 3 hour drive irked

2"-4" due Wednesday evening to Thursday morning. From one source at least; others are more reluctant to commit - we'll see.

You know it's getting cold when you actually want to get on the Central Line in the morning.

As per this tweet - https://twitter.com/UKWX_/status/11873311368565104...

Heavy rain for Devon/Cornwall, Wales, Midlands, Lancs/Yorkshire.

Gales for same area, and everything to the south, and northern Scotland.

Tomorrow is nasty.

Lived on the Fylde coast for 50years, bet there’s never been more than 16cm in total, although I do remember spending 10mins having to dig my car out once in 95/96 I think it was before I could get to work

A soggy howler inbound then.

It is already soggy today but seemingly with no howl.

Interestingly Netweather are forecasting virtually no rain at all here for East Berks tomorrow.

Where it does flood, I hope not too many idiots manage to strand themselves and write off their Audi's in deep water.

Couple of inches on grass and fences and so on, started to settle on the roads, but then started melting. So it's slippery and that's about it. 20c tomorrow....and snowing again Sunday.
