That's not a flight as such, they fire a tube from a catapult.

Cool, sunny spells.

Sharp frost here - down to -2 last night. First hat and gloves dog walk of the winter complete, along with first car scrape.

When I see a picture like that I wonder why the Scots tend to be a bit moany and groany whistle

That is stunning and I'd be as happy as McLarry if I had that view. beer

Hopefully you're all adult enough to keep tabs on the weather by yourself. I've travelled a lot this week and so haven't been in much.

Heavy rain for Wales tomorrow. Strong winds across the south. 65mph inland possible.

Mrs Puggit is planning to go canvassing. Good luck to her hehe

Pug,

Any updates on what those crazy weather scientists maybe thinking by looking into their supercomputer powered crystal balls?

Any signs of the stratospheric warming, an Eastern blocking pattern, a Scandinavian wotsit or generally anything colder that will kill all of the spiders and stops the grass growing?

Or is the mild, wet and windy going to continue?
It's a strange one at the moment. The polar vortex that normally starts to appear over NE Canada/Greenland at this time of year is missing. However, despite this, the jet stream is active, and pointing straight at us.

So the outlook remains cool and unsettled.

Keeping an eye out for widespread snowfall on Sat - but certainly not sounding the klaxon at this point. As usual, it's knife-edge territory and not 100% supported by all the models - so no excitement, yet.

Starry night in west Berks. Frost already on cars in the valley. Up top of the hill we're slightly warmer. Great conditions for fog...

All events at Meadowhall cancelled, people already in Meadowhall advised by police to stay put as area gridlocked. Floodwater now entering Meadowhall itself.
That's what you get for having a Christmas event in early November. Serves them right, and I'm glad the man upstairs has dealt with it appropriately.

Any more news on the models and what long range stuff is showing Pug?
Things are shaping up, but no absolute clear direction. There is an inching towards northern blocking. A repeat of 2010 era is possible, but not certain.
