I guess that means we're getting a cold spell this week? frown
Something, something, eye of newt and red toadstools...
Eye of newt and toe of frog,
Wool of bat and tongue of dog, etc .. (W. Shakespeare, from Macbeth)
Not to get all Terry Pratchett, but eye of what type of newt exactly? And let's not even start of the different types of dog.

Anyway, lovely frost in Essex this morning. Looking forward to more in the future!

May have been the wrong sort of newt; forecast says "plenty rain" next week.

Interesting chain of Twitter posts by Matt Hugo earlier. He doesn't often ramp - indicating high pressure to our NW in the future...

Looked at the tweets, it all seems exciting and dramatic with references to 2009..... but I've have no idea what the terminology means? confused

Pug, as simple translation, late Nov and early Dec, is it;

1, Going to snow?
2, Not going to snow?

It's the same ramping from the same people we see every year around this time. It will be sleet at best/worst with the temperature hovering around 0C as it always does, so that in the rare event it does actually fall as snow it'll all be melted by lunchtime. Same old same old.

Rao should be appearing in the Express any moment now with his yearly "Worst winter for 100 years" prediction.

Well I'm taking no chances, I dug the big down filled jacket out from the cupboard last weekend.

I can only offer potential. There is potential for good things to happen for snow lovers, but there are plenty of places where it can all go wrong.

Next week - warmer, wetter - unsettled.

Well, if those that understand are getting excited, that is good enough for me!

Bring on the snow (after next week), hopefully.

I've only been out gritting twice this season so far and when I'm back in (Sun-Wed night) it doesn't look like we'll be out then.

East Berks;

Single massive peal of thunder just now, which was nice.

Also heavy showers, feels like it is getting dark now!

It snowed again last week, put down, oh, about a quarter of an inch, then has been snowing fitfully most of the last couple of days. We've got about 3/4 inch so far.

Although it's due to go on for another 4 hours I don't think we'll see much more.

Edit - my colleague about 10 miles away got about 3".

Sometimes, I wish we had that down south, for a week or so. Proper, four foot deep snow. Then I come to my senses.

Yet according to some random on the winter tyre thread a while back Halesowen is a small village with no chance of snow ever, or something like that. hehe
