Yeah, it was awesome, being a kid is awesome. So many folk want to say how much better their childhood was than anyone before or since, it wasnt, just different opportunities and memories and we will always hold it dear, it wasnt great all the time but was usually fun.
We did get more snow, my kids didnt see as much but when it did, like 2010 we had a great time,

Only 2 weeks to the shortest day, daffs will be up soon?
(May not be a popular post on a snow lovers thread!)
The earliest evening or earliest sunset though is only a few days away so the nights start drawing out before the shortest day.(May not be a popular post on a snow lovers thread!)
Whilst the mornings continue to come in up until the end of Dec.
My name is Michael Caine and not a lot of people know that.
Have a play about on timeanddate.com (the sun calculator) once you have set your location, it is really quite fascinating.

Thanks though!
Was talking with a farming customer this morning. He was saying that he paid around £380 per tonne for the winter wheat seed. Much of that seed, currently planted in the ground has rotted, so there are fields where he thinks it might even be best to re-plough and re-plant.
However, the price being asked now for spring seed is £500 per tonne.
Also heard numerous accounts of potato harvesters and tractors being bogged down, and of crops being left to rot because it is impossible to get in and harvest them. There are going to be some serious food price hikes next year.

Remember when you were a kid.....
Happy days !
A perfect summary!Happy days !
As a child in the 70's I remember it snowing a lot and we were all still in school regardless.
As a teen in the 80's I remember it snowing a lot and also have the association with snow and orange streetlights! Also memories, which now make me shiver about playing on frozen lakes and ponds. None of us ever fell through the ice thankfully.
As an adult, I don't remember it snowing as much as it should but when it does, it is still as exciting as it ever was!

Any news on this snow we were promised at the end of the week? It’s just going to be drizzle isn’t it?
Allegedly it was all a lie constructed by Puggit and his meteorologist mates who own a significant shareholding in a winter tyre manufacturer. They do it several times every winter and we fall for it every single time.
It’ll probably happen again next week.
