This is all very true. However it's good clean fresh air and the risk of flooding is very low.
biggrin

FiF - you probably went to Grimston Garages who used to be made in Queensbury.

That name rings a bell, it would have been in early 60s which fits their history.

Hopeful signs of a cooler, drier period starting just before Xmas. Also hopeful signs of some high pressure building near the UK towards New Year.

Meanwhile - wet and windy...
Much stronger signals for high pressure over Xmas. Goodbye rain!

Don’t tease us frown

Today was beautiful here, crisp and clear. Cold tonight, was below freezing not long after sunset.

I don't mind the endless rain, so long as the temps stay close to double figures or more so that the roads stay clean and not get covered in grit and brine.

On a related note, a question to our Canadian and American friends : do they spray all the roads with salt/grit and brine over there as well? I know in the Far East they don't use them, although no idea how they manage to stop their roads getting covered in ice scratchchin .

In the frozen North we spray with salt/grit , but that only works down to minus 10/12C , then if the wind gets up it acts as a magnet and before you know it the highway turns into a skating rink . Worst times are when temps are 0 to minus 5 ish and fluctuating , when it stays really cold the snow tends to blow straight over . Doesn't always go to plan though

Nevermind, 10c warmer and sideways rain by 6am this morning.

Perfect day to be working on a cherry picker.

Not wet nor windy. Snow at about 2000 ft.

For those that know the road... looking towards the Bealach na Ba this morning (sea level to 2300ft in <5 miles):

Stop it, Steve! Envy levels are very high.

It's dry (so far) today, but wow everything is damp. Loads of wet leaves everywhere.

Done.....

20 Miles West of NYC in New Jersey. Everything is covered in ice. It all looks very pretty but the weight is causing issues for the trees as branches are falling off.

Looks like high pressure will almost definitely sit on top of UK for Christmas. Where it then move to is key, it could open the door to winter if it moves to Greenland or Scandi.

Apologies if I've written drivel. Had some fairly major surgery this afternoon (I'm all good, fit and healthy!).
