The latest Jack Reacher
You are going to be soooooooo disappointed.Anyhow, this weekend the step-dad of my old best mate passed away, they were/are basically my second family ... and our friend down the road was in theatre this afternoon having his heart set beating right again (sounds like it was an arrhythmia rather than MI) after collapsing out of nowhere ... so on balance, I think I'll join those wishing for nothing more than good health for all our family and friends.
In terms of physical gifts, the Glastonbury 50th Anniversary book - I’ve told Mrs PT that this is all I want, pretty sure she’s taken the not very subtle hint.
Other than that some quality time with my 4yo son, wife and my folks for a couple of days, then her family. My wife’s family are pretty devout Catholics, so they generally enjoy celebrating the religious side of it. I get to crack a few gags about bloody Christians ruining Christmas!

This year, my little boy will be two and a half so more aware of the proceedings and the whole opening some parcels affair... that's enough for me frankly. Granted, the fact said parcels include Scalextric and some Bruder lorries has no bearing on my excitement levels. Honest.
On which note, we also agreed that we don't agree with spending for the sake of it so it's a £10 limit for family... a token gesture really and the missus is getting a framed collection of choice pictures from this year, some wellies (she asked!) and isn't cooking so she's happy.
The little human, whilst his stuff sounds a bit OTT for a toddler, I picked up the Scalextric for a tenner and the big trucks for a fiver. We also made a point of taking as many toys, clothes and such like to the local kiddies charities.
My line of work gives an heartbreakingly insight into the lives of those who have little money or people with which to enjoy this time of year. That's made me really think about things. I feel we don't do enough to help those with so little. The guilt is strong.

To be trapped in a lift with Jan Francis, Suzy Kendall and Susan George c.1978, failing that, the ability to make my bloody mind up over what my next car purchase is going to be. And freedom for Tooting, obviously.
(I have it on good authority that I'll actually be getting some more car books - on GT40s, Alfa Tipo 33s, Lancias and Maseratis).

Trying to decide if 20 years is too long to have owned one and is it time to let go.

F*ck, hadn't seen that.A little bit like the OP said, if i want something i'll buy it.. if i can't afford it then it is too expensive to ask for a present!
All i honestly all i want is just a nice few days, quiet.. enjoy the week and a bit we have off work.
last few weeks have been a bit rough so looking forward to getting sorted again

Peace and quiet, not eating turkey but a decent steak pie and chips, and a bottle of red. No drama, just relaxing, no walking on eggshells for the past 30 years+ trying to make people not kick off/go into histrionics. Sadly, not seeing any close family for Christmas ‘17, ‘18, and now ’19 has proven to be the only way of achieving this.
As above, just enjoy the fact I am are still here to enjoy it, no matter how modest that enjoyment may be.

I found myself in a similar position a few years ago so now always ask for experiences rather than things.
Works better for me.
Nice ones so far have been:-
All you can eat burger challenge with a few members of my family.
Seaplane flight over the Western Isles.
Landrover 4x4 day at Knockhill.
Family meals out.
And my favourite to date, a day at a cook school with my son.
Good call there. I don't know where you are in the UK but Billingsgate fish market do some fantastic cooking experiences which include a tour round the market, preparing fish and shellfish dishes and then eating them before going home with your market haul. Proper good prices for fresh fish and a great learning experience too. Have done one of the courses with my son and I can attest to the fact that it is a great experience. We both learnt a lot.Works better for me.
