Purchasing for the long-game
Discussion
Quite easy to get credit back. I was with SSE and if in credit for more than I thought reasonable to leave in I would simply phone them and it would be returned to me. Small amounts were left there ready for wintertime. DD were always set by me too as I would rather owe them a few £ than let them have a “ loan” from me.
Bought a new HP all-in-one printer/scanner recently. Signed up for the “free” ink supply deal. Actual printing is very low numbers so we have yet to exceed the free limit. We tend to scan stuff or use mobile to hold tickets, vouchers etc. So far the HP ink deal is great as the inkjet cartridges we used to use tended to dry our/block etc.. now I print a test page every month to keep them flowing.

In the early 80's father in law bought some shares in Eurotunnel with the offer of free travel as many times as he wanted. He used it about twenty times and when he died he willed the shares to his son. Despite many arguments and solicitors letters they wouldn't budge and let son have the free ticket offer, said it was for original purchaser only, i.e his life not son's. He still made a profit on the share though.

Oh how they wriggle.
Sim card goes faulty - "oh no sir can't swap sim no siree. cannot do that "
"Yes you can and you will"
And they do begrudgingly.
At the time it was the best way to have an emergency phone in the car.
Anyone remember the original one2one deals with free calls.?
These became useless when people adopted smart phones as the data elements were horrifically expensive.Pay Up Front For Life

It was quite explicitly non-transferable in the detail IIRCYou might end up choking on a hooker’s knickers, tomorrow. Who knows. I’d be pissed right off, if I’d paid for a life’s subs, and then ended up with an orange down my throat, and a rope round my neck, all dead and blue, in a seedy hotel, somewhere, or something. Is it just me? I dunno.

There are lotteries like this too, I was having a conversation with my boss about it, 10k a month for 30 years I think it was. I reckon you might make a bit more out of it getting it like a wage.
The downside of course is that 10k a month might not always be a lot of money.
I had the exact same thought, inflation etc. What I decided though was that a mortgage could be obtained using this "guaranteed" say 5k or so pcm sooo you could potentially buy a decent place on it.......The downside of course is that 10k a month might not always be a lot of money.
Not exactly big time on the scale front, but 17 years ago for his 50th birthday my father in law was gifted a lifetime membership for his local cricket club. It cost £500 at the time and entitles him to go into any game at any time.
His ‘renewal’ just came through this year, with what is essentially a begging letter suggesting to him as a lifetime member than he should make a donation (suggesting £50) to the clubs coffers. Cheeky gits
