Just wondered if anyone was still running the old PH favourite - a "tip-run" car? smile
I had a little Ford Ka 'shed' when I first retired and we'd use that for tip runs. Not bad with the back seat folded down. These days I use my son's Fiesta as payback for me repairing it last year after he crashed it. biggrin

I think, as much as possible/practical people who use a service should pay for it.
I'd love to see that happen with the prison and immigration service

biggrin

The prisoners/immigrants aren’t the ones deriving a benefit from that service. It’s the people who want them to be locked up or repatriated.

Just imagine if you could have anyone you hated locked up, just by paying for the privilege…..

It’s called a erde 142 trailer here, it’s handy to slowly slowly load very well over time and then do a big trip every so often

If you can keep the contents dry it works well. Although me and the old boy next door love talking about how we can get stuff in the wheelie bins under the radar

In sunderland we pay for garden waste bin, it’s under £40 for the years collections.

Our tip/recycling centre is, in fareness, superb. You book your slot online, when you get the the is plenty of space and staff and the whole thing has been thought through as a process. The is no charge for non business waste.

In addition they collect bulky items (furniture, white goods, bagged rubble et ) free from your house too, although the is a 3 -4 week waiting list for it.

You're paying for an extra ordinary service. I find it hard to believe that people are so self centric they can't understand that garden waste is not normal household waste and therefore needs to be funded. The £54 annual payment is a bit of a bargain IMO.

I do however with an issue with local authorities closing some local tips and expecting people to drive many miles to find another.
I don't disagree.... I'm one of those people who can often be found standing in a bin compressing the waste - getting my money's worth. It also seems fairer to me that the fee is per bin - not tied to property value many years ago.

However.... If you find yourself in a county which is at the upper end of council tax charges it does rankle a little.

Having said that, the previous Conservative council did not increase CT in the last tax year. The independents have a thankless task of having to balance the books.
