A friend of mine has had his 17 plate in for service, during the service they have updated the software on the car which has removed the ability to turn off the start stop system.
Porsche are saying it is non reversible, he is saying they should have asked permission to remove an option the car was sold with.
Anyone else had this issue?

I thought in sport plus it was not set as this is what i used to do to stop it. Could you not set the Individual settings to disable this rather than set sports plus? Sorry do not have the car anymore or I could have tried it it for you.

It's definitely not available in any mode, sport, sport plus etc, the dealers have agreed that this is the case.

Just had my 2017 971 in for a recall and they did it to mine.
So pissed off.
Apparently they trying to distance themselves from the Volkswagen saga that went on... But I feel they removed a key feature of the sports plus / Chrono Pack.
Will seek legal advice

Stop Start feature can be turned on & off with the Carly app on your smartphone.

All of the options you didnt pay for when you bought the car new can be switched on with the same app (coded functions, not carbon ceramic brakes!)

You already have the phone and the app is cheap so crack on and get it done.

I think the auto stop-start is dodgy in the first place. Does engines no good and a cheap way of getting emissions down in urban conditions. I disable it every trip.

So I'd be happy with what the dealer did.

I think the point was that you can no longer turn it off ?

Proper first world problem this...we have had our 17 Cayenne S Diesel for three years/50k miles. The Cayenne and the Panny are two tonne cars designed to drove long distances and seat 4 people in comfort...not designed for getting away from the lights quickly. Really don’t see the problem ? I doubt I have turned off this function more than 5 times!

I wouldn’t mind so much if it only switched off after the car had been stationary for a couple of seconds but mine will cut while car is still rolling before I’ve stopped (66 plate diesel S ) It’s a right PITA when you are trying to manage your progress.

Pursue the legal route, my friend has and the outcome from this is that Porsche made a sizeable financial settlement.

I can’t think mine has ever cut out under braking....if by rolling you mean you’re just rolling up to the lights not under power or brakes then it’s at odds with your driving style ?
