Nope, there's a Tesco metro 5 mins walk down the road.
Not sure you quite grasp the idea of isolation. Your selfish trip to Tesco could lead to the deaths of people in your neighbourhood. The homelessness and descent into prostitution by the attractive zero hours Tesco staff member would also be on you.

No. Much better you self isolate and keep away from anyone. Print out some A4 sheets with the word Plague House on them.
Pop a notice on your local facebook page exp[laining you are self isolating and advise people to steer clear

As mentioned stock up on tinned food. The aforementioned Fray Bento steak + Kidney pies are a tasty treat. Likewise soup (I favour tomato and Pea and Ham) is an excellent choice
Powdered milk - just in case
Remember to not leave your bins out for the duration so carefully pack all rubbish to one side
Kendal Mint cake a delightful and tasty source of sugar is a must
You have a duty to yourself and your community to self isolate properly.
Advice on here can be given and I have a modestly priced website access containing useful tips and information you can access

At least one school in my town is closed because they sent a school party to Italy. The children are supposed to stay at home.

Went shopping this morning and there were two under 10 children with their mother, the kids were coughing near the till, really wet loud productive coughs.

The cashier said whats this all about to the mother, the response was what else am I supposed to do, I had no food in the house to feed them for 2 weeks, and I cannot leave them in the house on their own.

.
And this is why the virus will not be defeated. Everyone is looking after themselves, and not the rest of the human race.
Stupidity levels like this means we deserve it. I bet she's heard of Asda/Tesco/Waitrose home delivery and probably used it too.

I assume the last sentence was to show he was taking the piss out of people who do such things.

Or do I need a whoosh?

Swine flu
I thought this was going to be, until a colleague of mine came into work, looking like st, and “feeling unwell”. He was subsequently sent home, and died a month later from complications caused by this infection. There’s a tree with a plaque on it, dedicated to the guy’s memory, by the car park at my workplace, which serves as a reminder of how this one was as bad as the experts said it was.

I work for a large blue-chip in the technology sector, we have our annual kick off event in Budapest in 10 days. The Italian team have been banned already, the Spanish team are on standby to be cancelled.
I'm in Barcelona at the moment, nobody is even remotely bothered. Carnaval went ahead last weekend I think. Fewer cases in Spain than in the UK.

We're moving my wife's stuff into my house as she ends the rental she had, we have more A1 sauce and Parmesan than we can even use. And snacks (low carb, of course). Tons of snacks.

The impact of the virus is primarily disruption to supply chains due to quarantine and the elderly with underlying health conditions. For the majority it is fairly benign, providing it does not mutate.

Iv got an out of date pink kit Kat that should pass the sniff test, an old dusty beef n tomato pot noodle I dont like and enough crisps to last me 5 mins.

Good news is my homebrew wine has reached its 16 weeks maturity where it tastes good. 30 bottles so I wont even remember the 2 weeks.

Surely that's the point of making a fuss about it now. There was a lot of fuss about the millennium bug and it was because of that fuss and the work that happened over a couple of years leading up to it that there was very little impact.
Seasonal flu kills around half a million people per year, despite having a very low fatality rate, because of the number of people that are infected. Even if Corona has a similar fatality rate, stopping it getting as widespread as flu would save half a million lives every year, but so far it appears to have a higher fatality rate, so potentially up to 10 million per year.

Biggest effect I think will be on the supply of goods from china, many factories are still not back at work or at full staffing levels as they have to show that they have things like temperature monitoring devices, quarantine areas, supply of alcohol gel, face masks etc. before they are allowed to reopen. In a few months time there is going to be certain things becoming hard to get hold of, and possibly price spikes as factories start upping the price of available production slots.

If I was forced to self isolate I think I'd treat it as a 2 week training camp ready for summer biggrin

Swine flu was known to be a much bigger deal, in terms of symptoms and outcomes right from the outset though. I still haven’t seen or heard anything that bothers me remotely about this one, in terms of symptoms or outcomes.
