Currently skiing at the moment and have decided I want to upgrade a large element of my kit for next year. What would normally happen is that I’d panic buy a week before next years trip, but as I want to buy a new jacket, helmet, goggles, gloves and possibly salopettes I’d like at least like to try and save some money.

So when is best to buy - at the end of this season, over the summer, or pre-season next year?

Cheers

eBay gets loads of ski stuff just towards the end of the season.

There's a surprising number of folk who know they have excellent ski gear when they head off to the slopes but then can't resist all the shops in the resort and "upgrade" expensively. They then come back home and look to offload the still excellent, but now redundant, gear.

Managed to get a superb Salomon ski jacket for £120 (down from RRP £250) in the NY sales, from Mountain Warehouse

This one in fact - https://www.gooutdoors.co.uk/15942140/salomon-men-...

Probably more snowboard bias, but I used to buy online from Blue Tomato as they offer a wider choice of clothing and brands which are not available in the UK market.

Snow and rock have outlet stores. Some very keen pricing in my experience.

The Ellis Brighams Outlet in Castelfield, Manchester is good and they have decent discounts all the time.

I then work through three or four websites towards the end of the season (maybe March onwards?). Websites like Blue Tomato, SnowLeader, Glisse Shop etc. You can also get good bargains on Snow Pursuit. They are a little spammy but the savings can be good.

Check out TK Max, 2 years ago I picked up a Spyder Jacket & Volkl bottoms for my other half for £150. Last summer I got 4 Spyder fleeces for £30- £40 each.

Main sales will be in April, but also keep an eye on;

Glisshop - for skis/bindings/avi gear etc. (Hardware, if you will)
SportPursuit - year round sales of last season/end of line stock. Mainly clothing, feel free to use this link if you need to sign up; https://www.sportpursuit.com/join/5118A8370E8C53
TK Maxx - occasionally do good deals, but you need to check regularly as it goes pretty quickly.
Snow and Rock/Ellis Bringham - Check end of March/April, good for boots or stuff you need trying on.
