Vaccinations did work though, and social distancing / isolation will have had a significant effect on transmission rates.

Otherwise, hilarious...

But surely that joke relies on accepting that a load of things were done which had no impact and are now being repeated - which is complete bks

Fetch me those kittens…. smile

I doubt it's a problem of timing, more the fact that it's lacking anything humorous.

I think the latter but they’ve gone quiet now due to lack of any evidence to support their fkwittery and are stuck as they can’t easily blame gates/big pharma/govt overlords/uk suppression of humanity etc yawn for Ukraine.

The worlds governments are driving a minibus, among their passengers are the W.H.O. and some covid deniers.
As they approach some traffic lights, the lights turn to red.
"I think you should stop." say the W.H.O. The worlds governments bring the minibus to a rapid halt, the engine stutters, but they do their best to keep it going.
"Are you mad?" Ask the covid deniers, "Why have you stopped?"
Traffic starts to flow across the busy junction.
"Doesn't look great to go at the moment." says the W.H.O.
A Brazillian cyclist appears, weaves around the minibus and as cyclists sometimes do, ignores the redlight and starts to cross the traffic. The cyclist is hit by a juggernaut and after two weeks in intensive care she dies.
"Pre-existing condition." say the covid deniers.
Eventually, the traffic crossing the junction eases. Sensors in the road pick this up and the lights change to green.
With a clear road in front, and a green light, the W.H.O. tap the worlds governments lightly on the shoulder ands say "looks OK, we suggest you proceed."

The worlds governments take their foot off the brake and make their way cautiously across the junction.
Three quarters of the way over, with no incidents the covid deniers say:
"See? We told you there was no need to stop. We were right all along!"

Last May, 99% of the 50+ were double vaccinated. This is the point in your story we could have eased everything, including testing and isolation, and had a safe (ish) exit wave. Omicron is only a tiny bit less severe than Delta, although in May it was still Alpha (with a little bit of Delta IIRC). And Alpha was also less severe.

We've managed nigh on an extra year of restrictions. And the covid zero zealots aren't happy about the easing. They wouldn't have been happy last year. They wouldn't be happy with an easing next year. Also, certain travel restrictions still apply.....

China is an interesting one.......whistle

You must be. I’ve been telling my mates this one all day and they’ve been literally rolling about laughing. You definitely need a sense of humour upgrade cos this one’s comedy genius.
