I get the point, but that's a truly terrible example. Pevril of the Peak is a tiny city centre pub with large area of seating outside, to the left of that photo. Inhabited by the lawyers from Eversheds opposite and bankers from Handelsbanken to the rear. Lots of people drink outside there and the outside is bigger than the inside of the pub. Opposite is Rain Bar another pub with a huge outdoor terrace overlooking the canal and to the rear of the Pevril there's a new £1m foodhall and market being developed with lots of outdoor space fronting Barbirolli Square.

I can guarantee Pevril of the Peak and the venues immediately surrounding it will trade very well once they're permitted to re-open.

I dont know the pubs in the picture. It was just a meme I found rolleyesthat explained how most pubs wont be opening until indoor spaces can operate as well as outdoor as pubs could barely work with the last set of restrictions.
If the pub in the picture does have a good outdoor beer garden all the better but most dont and wont be open until pubs are allowed to serve indoors

Went to our local a couple of times during their last opening and it was all signing in, rules, regulations, booking time slots and masks etc. Getting told off going to the loo without a mask by some spotty teenager, stuff that. More grief than it was worth.

Pubs are supposed to be a place where you can relax, forget your troubles with a few pints and have a chat with a good mate. If I wanted to be regulated I'd join the army.

So I won't be going to the pub until they are properly open.

Same here, or any public outlet until ALL restrictions are gone including distancing and masks.

On that note, has anyone noticed that the MSM / HMG are no longer pushing the 'new normal' crap? Seems to have died a death...

It'll be interesting to see what happens, I suspect the biggest factor may be the weather. A mate supplies some of the roughest pubs in Manchester alongside some of the poshest bars in the city centre, should get some feedback from him in the coming weeks as to what most publicans plan to do.

See also the Huntingdon pub in Longsight (Longste). Or as it used to be called, the Mad Hatter.

Back in the day, Mrs Digga's final year student house was just round the corner. The Hatter used to be a proper Irish pub. On a Friday or Saturday night there'd be a line of Hino 8x4 tipper lorries abandoned out front.

Yeah the booking to go to a pub was crazy, pubs were obviously happy to fully book online, and they almost seemed smug when they turned you away when you didn't book. I didn't have much sympathy for them when they were crying on social media about no shows.

The initial burst of going to a pub outside will be unbearable, especially with mask/distance restrictions still in place. same as trying to book and play golf towards the end of last year was. There was no point even trying.

Nobody is going to go to a pub that insists on mask wearing when there is one that doesn't.

I have a strong suspicion that 21st June will end up as 1st June.

Different world here.

Just wandering into (the fourth pub if the day) and asked for a guiness.

COVID restrictions are so tight the barman says "do you want this one, some bloke ordered it didn't touch it and went for his bus"

Free beer that some random ordered and probably touched

I've got a feeling there is more chance that it will turn into 1st August with substantial meals, masks and social distancing than moving to the 21st June.

The straw isn’t/wasn’t plastic.

It was one of those nasty paper ones. I can’t even touch them never mind suck on them.
