Well the big super Saturday thing did not happen in Cornwall.
My local was just the same amount of people 8 or 9 in at 7pm.
My bro in law went to a different pub located on the harbour, right next to a massive camping and caravan park which was absolutely heaving by the late afternoon, yet the pub, he says was empty, with around 20 drinkers.
This pub is normally heaving to the rafters, with tourists, an hour wait for food, and normally a nightmare to even get in.
Half of the staff that were on duty, were sent home due to lack of customers.

Is ‘drunk and disorderly’ an offense? Maybe that’s what they’re using.
Pissed and pugilistic perhaps?

Life goes on, or we can all cower behind the setee and watch the world collapse and all die, skint, jobless, homeless, and broken, like an apocalyptic, dystopian slow motion movie, or, we could start to live our lives again.
I'm in the latter camp.
I didn't go out yesterday, but I am also in the latter camp. I don't judge anyone for going out. In fact, a few people I know did and I was happy to bid them a good night. I suspect the lockdown advocates probably had a pretty miserable life before this began, tbh, and it probably made them feel better that everyone else was dragged down to their level.

If that's a poke at me well my wife and I spent alot of our time eating and drinking in some wonderful places all over Hampshire / Surrey during the week and weekend before lock down. We miss it and we'll come back.

I just think its too soon for mass gatherings and don't trust others to sanitise pubs and eateries etc to the point the risk is sufficiently mitigated. I will say I do have close family that if they got it a bad outcome would be inevitable so that does play a part.

Why do you think it was ok to be out eating and drinking until the enforced lockdown, but it's not ok now?

We all knew the lockdown was coming and we all knew the risks were already present. A lot of people say the lockdown was too late.

There's far more measures in place than there was when you were happy to go out.

And take into account 137 deaths with CV19. Of those, how many would have died anyway? From a population of 60m.

If you think it unsafe to go to the pub now Cooper, you'll never go out again. More people died yesterday from Flu or other transmittable diseases than CV19. The chances of you contracting it are minute, the chances of you contracting CV19 and then spreading it are miniscule.

That’s a perfect example of what I was describing earlier. You’ve just positioned your approach as perfect and completely dismissed other people’s lives as a whole because they are being cautious about going out. Pretty poor form.

The way you call people “lockdown advocates” as a derogatory term is quite telling too. That one comment makes the rest of your post appear to be written by a holocaust denying, 5G conspiracy theorist, flat earther. There seems to be a strong element of bravado going on in general around, if you agree with lockdown, or have simply complied with it, then you’re a feeble-minded fool, whereas claiming that you oppose it makes you the local Chuck Norris and woman fall at your feet.

My view is simple. I didn’t go out and probably won’t for a while, because there is a mass demand for it for a very period then it all calms down and is more like it was. I can wait a week or so for that surge to calm.

You’ve been listening to the Govt announcements haven’t you. Yes we all know the whack-a-mole will keep going until there is a vaccine. So places will open and close and open and close.

So you think that I think my approach is perfect based on the fact that I would rather live my life and take my chances? Nice bit of twisting going on there. No in fact I am just someone who would rather be realistic about my chances than lock myself up in my little prison for the rest of my life.

And if you think I am a 5G conspiracy theorist / holocaust denying / flat earther then you really are making stuff up as you go along, I am quite vocal in fact about about how fking stupid 5G conspiracy theorists are.

Give your head a shake fella!

All you’ve done there is miss the point and select the bits you want to address.

The point is simple. There is a clear bravado about being the one who wants to go to the pub immediately and a clear insulting dismissal of those who don’t.

I suspect the closest we will come to a vaccine is to keep yourself fit and healthy and hope for the best.

In case anyone need further motivation not to be a great big fat bd, here it is!

All you've done is made a load of stuff up about me. There was no bravado or insults in my post. What point have I missed exactly? All I said was that I am in the camp of getting on with life, while exercising some common sense, and you get all butthurt. Sorry you feel that way. As you were.

This is hard work. No insults or bravado in your post? Explain the sentence in bold and feel free to tell me how that isn’t insulting someone to tell them they have a miserable life and feel better that others are being dragged down to their level.

You have got offended by me saying similar derogatory things about you (which were purely for effect), but somehow think you can write them without them being an insult.

As for bravado, it’s all bravado on here. People (general comment about many posters) complaining about lockdown, dismissing coronavirus, or claiming that people would have died anyway, so why worry and so on.

I don’t care if people go out, or stay in. It’s their choice, I’m not angry about either choice. I make my own decisions, but don’t feel I need to generalise and belittle those who choose to do different things to me. It’s their choice. Following lockdown rules and guidance though should be something that people should do out of social awareness and shouldn’t be criticised for doing so, as a “lockdown advocate”

You're mistaking me for someone who gives a fk. I stated my opinion, and you read a load of irrelevant bks into it and got all triggered.

Do whatever you like; go out, don't go out, I honestly couldn't care less. I'm not spending my day arguing with you. Have a nice day drink

Moving on, this was an interesting reddit thread on how things went overall in pubs and restaurants, and although there are some success stories, a lot of it was a farce:-

No it won't. As soon as Cummings took the piss the national lockdown was dead and buried.

It's all about the economy now. (It always was but now they admit it).

That is true however no one goes out to become overweight. No one wants to be heavily sweating in cool conditions no one wants to be out of breath going up a few flights of stairs. No man wants belly being so large they cannot see their winkie.

To label people fat bds or such like is very hard - there is a route cause as to why they are eating more than they require. Mental health depression lack of education on food, addiction.
