It’s sunny here, bars and cafes are all “busy” in what outdoor seats they have.

As a previous regular pub goer, I'm completely unexcited about the pubs opening. Let's face it, what with the sitting outside in zero centigrade, along with having to book and all the other silly restrictions and rules, I just can't be arsed anymore. No fun left to be had. Also I can imagine the first few weeks just being full of knobheads anyway. And that's before the inevitable government backtracking where they close everything down yet again. I have lost every bit of enthusiasm I once had for it.
I'm the same. I've got a lunch meeting at the local on Wednesday and a few pints at the same place with mates lined up for Thursday, but I've already got the can't be arsed feeling. Before all of this I went for a couple of pints most evenings. I don't really want to book to go for a pint, or pay 4x supermarket prices to sit in a fking tent.

So anybody bothering to have a beer outside the pub today then?
Be nice that, what with the snow we had this morning.

I'm afraid I feel the same.

Last year I said I wasn't going to go away on holiday until holidays were 'normal' again, or as near as possible to 'normal', which means I don't want a holiday blighted by masks, social distancing, arrows taped on floors, hand sanitiser and all that sort of thing.

Same applies to pubs and restaurants. I went out a few times last year and it just wasn't much fun.

The pubs will no doubt be busy as soon as the restrictions are eased, and good for them, they deserve the trade, but I probably won't be one of their first customers.

I'll wait until it's either a really nice day and the local pub is allowing you to just walk straight into the beer garden without booking, or I'll wait until the restrictions have gone, as in properly gone.

Pleased to read that the pubs and cafes are quite busy.
They’re not open here for a couple of weeks, I’ve lost track of when exactly.
Not been in a pub for more than a year and strangely not desperate to go back.....

I like that. Other options are Booze Aldrin, Gin Lovell and Gin Irwin, Fred Haze, Neil Armstrongbow, John Youngs Best Bitter and Malt Cunningham.

Not today, I try to avoid the sauce on Monday to Thursday, I am going to make an exception this Thursday and have got a table booked at a local free house.

Yes I approve. Edgar Mitchell & Butlers too, also from Apollo 14 but not a queue jumper.

Well we weren't going to bother but walked past the Red Lion and asked what the rules and regulations were. Just details on a bit of paper, no booking although it was recommended and obviously sitting outside for the time being.

Marquee covered the whole beer-garden with tables taken/reserved. Managed to get a table for an hour which was fine.

Staff seemed a lot more relaxed too.

Or, just have one of your mates do the legwork on the booking hehe

I personally cba either, but I'll turn up if someone has booked something. Every pub anywhere near me in South London is full for the next two weeks basically.

All of the ‘spoons around my way have re opened. I’m in no rush to get to any of them yet though. It was the usual unemployed / retired types that seemed to have been on the beers from this morning.

I'll go as soon as I can persuade SWMBO to go - I don't expect it to be a great time (because of the restrictions - honest wink ) but I'm going to try and support the local pubs as much as I can.

Been at the pub this afternoon- the feeling of some normality is really lovely.
