Rather disappointingly, this thread seems to have been taken over by conspiracy loons.

None whatsoever, however, when has that ever stopped rioting?

No the break is due to vaccination and increasingly effective treatment. No measure aimed at reducing the case rate can achieve that break it just lessens the number of people infected to begin with.
It’s far too early to judge whether or not the vaccines are even working. There have been enough lockdowns to prove their effectiveness though. All we’ve seen so far, is down to better knowledge of how to mitigate the effects of the virus, and the effects of lockdowns. We’ll see whether or not the vaccines are truly having any effect in a few months time.

Is it? What does the hospital admissions data say about the vaccinated age groups?

I think that the “proper boozer” will be something resigned to history, in all but places where ‘The Wicker Man’ is viewed as more of a documentary, than a film. Things have already changed to much, and I think the change will be fairly inelastic.
Ego vos loquentes stercora.

This thread really is giving loons a platform to articulate some 'speshul' thinking.

We’ve been vaccinating for well over four months now.

How long do you want?

One full ‘cycle’ post ‘full roll out’ at least. That’s a winter, and a summer. I reckon the government have their fingers poised over the metaphorical kill switch, until that’s happened too.

32 in hospital, who have contracted Covid-19, despite having been vaccinated. Given the numbers are reducing anyway due to the effect of lockdowns, and that the airborne pathway is becoming less significant as we all move apart more, I’m not sure that’s great news. We shall see. Only time will tell.

I’m still going to the pub, I have had a vaccine, I don’t really care whether it works or not. If the electronic passport linked thing happens, all I care about is that I’ve actually had a vaccine, so I can carry on.

May the 17th should be interesting. If the numbers permit the next bit of the unlocking, it will be interesting to see how busy the pubs and restaurants actually are.

That’s why I’m not enthused. Book a table? It’s a frickin PUB !!!!!

Mine will also keep all of the windows open for ventilation so it’ll be cold.

Of course they will be very busy, what other scenario can you possibly imagine? A country full of pissheads who've got even more money to waste on food and booze than usual?! Everywhere will be rammed.
