When will we be able to go to the pub again?

Have a look at Chile for what happened when they opened up a bit too early.
Had they vaccinated half of their adult population?

~40% but with a mostly different vaccine.

Personally I think we should open up, but I'm happy to wait a few more weeks until more people have had their second dose.

As I saw someone say - when did whole pandemic thing go from number of deaths to number of cases? Madness.
Around the same time the politicians and media revert to percentages when numbers become too low to be sensationalised.

A few pubs round here didn't bother opening on Monday because the weather was so awful and are staying closed this week due to the cold and rain - concentrating on getting ready for us to be able to go inside.

As an aside - this is getting silly now. Deaths negligable, people in hospital now low and dropping all the time. As I saw someone say - when did whole pandemic thing go from number of deaths to number of cases? Madness.
Itll soon ramp up if you open all the bars, clubs etc open. Pissed people will soon push the R number up.

It's over, an idiot can see it.

Anyone who thinks the current restrictions are in place for any kind of public safety concerns is deluded at best.

This should be one for the local facebook group thread.

I mean, how petty a person do you have to be, to take a picture of your boring anecdote. Did you pipe up at them? Explain how you're a good citizen and they're below you and others?

C.S. Lewis had people like you sussed:
Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience

How long till you and others who are taking little snide photos are reporting them to the police, or forming little curtain twitch neighbourhood patrols for non-mask-wearers.
You’re a very interesting individual.

Why do people always assume people go to pubs and bars 'to get pissed'? Many people manage to leave these establishments without slurring their words and trying to lick other people's faces.

They said the R number would increase with the schools opening too. No evidence of any uptick.

Notwithstanding that most people I know are now seeing friends and family as normal now. They just won't admit it to others.
The only things they aren't doing is going to venues that are closed or too fking cold to sit outside of.

Sat outside freezing to eat my pub dinner tonight. Next week the risk has gone and you can sit in the warm. We have lost the plot.

Can someone let me know where these normal pubs are?

Because my god have I missed them. I'll even forgive people for crowding the bar, just so I know things are back to normal!

Just thinking back, because I worked 3 months abroad from Sept and came home straight into lockdown, I haven't seen a pub since Sept 19th 2020.

The Green Man in Hounslow, nice enough if you don't mind a 777 coming into land 50m over your head.

A doom bar in a warm sunny beer garden would wipe away the last 6 months (I hope)

Just in time for me to go away for another 4 weeks frown

I know a few may laugh, but I'm looking forward to pubs opening so I can reduce my alcohol intake.

Before Covid, I'd quite happily meet a few mates a couple of times a week for 2/3 pints then home. Happily drink tea at home between those times.

Now I'm so skullfked from been at home all the time I'm caning a litre bottle of Kraken Rum every 3 days, just to pass the time.

When your back in june social distancing could be gone. You might be allowed to drink your pint of doom bar at the bar.

Snot goblins already in school and most I know seeing friends and family as normal. (though they will deny if asked)

We know what's going to happen don't we really?

I have my 'what a suprise' smiley all primed and waiting smile
