When will we be able to go to the pub again?

So you want to relinquish the ability to just nip into a pub or restaurant when you're out and about?
No spontaneity?
Yes, I actually prefer the organised way things are now. If I want spontaneity, there will always be a ‘spoons for that, and even then I do everything with their app.No spontaneity?

It can be a pain in the arse though. I was out with some friends yesterday e-beercycling. There are a variety of very nice pubs with nice views etc accessible from the moorland trails, at the best of these although there were empty tables we couldn’t indulge in a swift pint as we hadn’t booked. To be fair it only happened the once and given the weather that was quite surprising.

Actually, I dunno why I'm bothering with this. If you like you life to be regimented to the n'th degree, that's cool.

I think stamping out barflies is the only good thing Covid has given us...
I was at my local yesterday and the landlady said exactly this. It’s a small pub and on a Friday night can get quite busy yet the barflies will make it almost impossible to get to the bar and you end up just shouting your order over from behind. They’re doing table service at the moment. You book for the whole session (7hours for a Sunday) and if you leave prior to that the table is fair game to walk ins, there’s a sign at the door which says full or walk-in available. Seems to work very well for them.

I sit at the bar in my local (or used to) but it annoys me in busy pubs. I always stand up and get out of the way if someone wants to get to the bar.

Proper Prior planning prevents piss poor performance. That’s right up my street.
ProperPrior planning is a nonsense, all planning is prior, you don't plan in hindsight.
Agree re barflies. I've never understood how these people are comfortable with strangers shouting over them all night to order drinks, or why it doesn't occur to them they're obstructing others ordering stuff. Bigger bars it's OK obvs, but it's a bit of an endurance exercise perching on a stool all night.

More common in the US and handy if you are dining/drinking alone (eg with work travel) - TVs are normally behind the bar and likely someone will strike up conversation.
Similar to their diners. I would probbaly eat out more if there were more options to sit at the counter rather than take up a table ment for four. Our glorious leader has now allowed us to meet up to 6 people from 2 different households inside without alcohol, up to 8pm.
I have no idea how many households can meet outside in a beer garden, in Scotland, in April. But good news we will be allowed to drink at a pre booked table upto 10pm, outside in Scotland, in April.
We should be so grateful.
Maybe soon it won't be illegal to see my double jabbed parents in their own home. I cannot wait for her to allow me to do this.

Tell your parents to open the back door and shut the front window curtains. You go round the back and sit inside like everyone else is doing.
People in my village are no longer hiding their internal visitors, and have not been doing so since around February. Nobody cares now. Jimmy No Hands said:

Exactly the same where we live and for our relatives in other parts of the country, but we will all be dead from our stupidity by August!Jimmy No Hands said:
