Paid £180 for an 11 piece Wera Joker ratchet spanner set about 9 months ago. Have used 2 of them, once. Shouldn’t have bought them, the Halfords pro ones I have are more than sufficient for my basic mechanics needs.

If any keen ph mechanic wants to buy them, drop me a pm.

I do love my Wera tool sets, but like you the joker spanner’s are almost too dear for what they are.

Plus I’ve got my snap on dual headed ring and socket spanner’s now, which to be honest are the ones I use the most.

I think I have 11mm, 13mm and 14mm Joker Wera spanner’s already too!
They are nice looking, and the Wera allen keys I have are top quality so no doubt these would be also. I did succumb to purchasing a set of Facom combi spanners recently, 'just because', despite already having all the same sizes in a Halfords Pro set from years ago, and also having most of the same sizes in ratchet and offset ring spanner sets. The Facoms were an essential purchase as it meant I could relegate the (also excellent) Halfords Pro set to my 'stick it in the boot when going on a long journey' toolkit, in place of the cruddy Argos specials I bought 25 years ago.

Sigh. kinda. I just want a little buzzer or sound I can have in the house / or the back garden to let me know when some one enters the property.
The gate is only 50yds away, but if in the back and the front is all open / garage sheds etc if we are gardening et - its nice to have a heads up.

I already have 4 non-kitchen knives around the house, car and workshop.
My day job is essentially knife-ular (knifeacious?)
My middle name is knife.

I did not need this, it clips surreptitiously on to my shirt pocket.
I love it.

Damn you HeinnieHaynes weekly email !!!

Everything I can find though sounds an alarm at the gate when the sensors connection is broken, which is useless as I need the alarm to sound in the house.

I found a pool alarm that seemed to do what I needed but the buzzer had to be within about 50ft of the sensor so again no good. Ideally I could do with a sensor that sends a phone alert when the connection Is broken. Now I can find these, but they are all for indoor use.
You need these. I use them on my gate and kennels. range is amazing. over 100m through a couple of thick walls.

no phone alert though unfortunately. I would like that too

I've been racking my addled-brains for such a long time trying to remember where I had seen these fabulous model racing cars.

Cut a long story short (and forever resisting the urge to Google 'adult toys') I scrolled through nearly 300 pages of the previous Vol of this thread until I found it. Phew!

www.playforever.co.uk

I'm rather late to the party in here, admittedly, but it's on its way smile
Not sure I'll be able to stretch to the CNC Program range - who am I kidding? They are exquisite, but you can buy actual great cars for those prices - but I can see this becoming a habit.

I think this fits into the category.

I got a phonecall from a friend who was working on a farm local to me asking would I be interested in buying a trials bike.

I like buying offroad bikes haha.

A 2007 Beta REV 3 250CC
Had not started in a couple of years, perished tyres, grips and had never been trialled

£1100 and it started 3rd kick and I didnt even need to clean the carb.

II stuck new tyres, grips, levers, graphics and have done about 3 weekends of riding on it and sold it for £1800 making a tidy £600 profit after the wee bits I bought.

Roll on to today, my friend called to say he was selling his 2017 BETA 300 EVO 2T as he has just bought a 2020 bike. So I have purchased that and collecting it Saturday or he is taking it over tonight as I am too lazy to drive 10 miles haha

Just regurgitating this one - I have the joker ratchet spanners too. They were a frivolous purchase, until they really got me out of a bind last week cracking off a turbo bolt on my CLK. They have enough precision that I was able to get a few degrees of movement and grip from them to successfully release the nut, where as my usually trusty Halfords ratchet spanners had too much slack in them.

2 years ago I bought myself a stupidly expensive Miele cylinder vacuum cleaner. I knew when it came I'd probably made a mistake, it was heavy, hard work to lift on stairs and sucked the carpet so hard it was almost impossible to push. Then my lad bought a Shark.
Talk about vacuum envy.

Anyway, Currys had a rather good sale on and with a discount code as well I got the Shark for £179.99. The difference is huge for me. I now have the most expensive car hoover in the world for the garage biggrin

When I want the carpets to look clean I use our Dyson.
It picks up visible things. It's a fricking pain in the arse to empty and charge. I bought it refurbished.

When I want to carpets to be clean , I use our Miele.

See now I thought that, until I filled the Shark from one going over on the upstairs carpets. I used the Meile up there on Saturday. It's issue here is it sucks the carpet so much you cant push it properly, which means you miss bits. The other option is you turn down the suction, which means you miss bits.

Its also a lot easier for me to use biggrin

Thank you, and for SisterofPercy, some feedback:

I have set one up and other than the gash ringtone, I have to say - now that I have turned the sensitivity right down - its doing what its meant to do, and no false alarms now

Thats interesting, thanks for that. I'll show it to the other half later as might be the fix we need then!

No worries. Instructions dont show how to turn down the wick - youtube does, but essentially with the unit open, dip switches to the left throttle the sensitivity, dip switches to the right the awful ringtones biggrin

I had a look at the Dakar truck, and this was another “similar item” suggestion.

Would it be utterly pointless to buy one and build a shed on the back for a camper van (truck)?

I very nearly got one a few years ago, sadly realised i would have to have another driving test so shelved the idea.

So tempted..
