My personal favourites are a French guy definitely coming to buy my car, from France. A £600 MG. Astonishingly, he didn't.

I also tried to give away a cabin bed, free, well used, covered in stickers and second hand when i got it. Had a lengthy exchange with one lady, asking for the nth level of details, over and over. In the end I found one for sale for £99 and said "Its exactly like this, but free.". No reply to that, strangely.

It's not all bad. I advertised a single speed mountain bike, got no interest at all (it was probably over-priced). A bloke enquired from Germany, would I sell just the frame and forks and would I ship. I said it's not ideal, and I'd only consider doing it if I had no UK interest, and he would have to buy the whole bike.

To cut a long story short, he waited a week, I'd not sold it, so he arranged the courier, paid for the bike on friends and family upfront for a price I was more than happy with, and sent me photos of the received bike with a few mods he'd made...he was delighted with it.

So there's some decent people out there!
Brtish brand?

A lot of demand from Europe for British brands, always worth opening any ebay auction for stuff like British Hi-fi to international buyers.

As a contrast, sold a telly on eBay. bloke pays, apologises for using Paypal as didnt feel any other option, arrived bang when he said he would and was thrilled with the condition. I said its fine, take it, any problems, bring it back for a full refund.

Got a message saying he is thrilled with it and it works perfectly.

the bike is a teen / young adult

ok what bus route are you on...
or could you deliver ?

i can deliver

Ok thats good

delivery is £25

what, the bike is up for sale for £50 thats half the cost of the bike..

You wanted delivery its not free...

Ill come out and see it when will you be in

in in all day

so i wait, sure enough the chap turns up, get on the bike tries it likes it, I want to buy it, ok i said im selling it.

Ill give you 40 quid for it, im asking £70 for it, you said in the advert it was £50, you offered 40 for it, so obviously you didnt see the price.
its 75 now if you want it or not.

Your a #unt he said. I just laughed. Bike back in the garage and told him to foxtrot oscar.

meanwhile 2nd person turns up, saw it on facebook show him the bike he pulls out £50 gives me the money and bike is away. 1st person is a bit confused. looks at him and says ye had yer chance, if you hadnt ducked about you would have been on your way home on a bike... maybe next time you wont be the #unt will ye...

facebook seems to work better than gumtree these days, lots of buying groups if you can fend off the karens and the chancers lol
This didn’t happen.

Yes, a candy apple red steel On-One Inbred. I did do a video call with the guy prior to boxing it up, obviously totally legit, he said there was one for sale in Germany, but it was white and he didn't want a white one! In fairness, my bike had hardly been ridden and was in superb condition...however it was quite "old" in mountain bike terms, old style 26" wheels for a start.

I don’t sell anything

If an item is worth something I give it to family members to sell (they get the hassle & can keep the money) unless anyone I know wants it for free to use etc

Currently selling an iphone 4 Presented very well for £50.

Lady messages me and offers £45. I accept.

Then she messages me back, Would you take £40?

I tell her if we are still negotiating, how about £47.50?

"But you already agreed to £45!!"

That's right, i did.

Then at about 6:30pm she asks if she can come over right now , which i agree too.

8:30 rolls round and i get another message.

Can i come right now? I will be 20 mins.

It is now 9:30pm and I have heard nothing else.

Bloody glad i had no plans to go out..

Other than the many "is it still for sale" messages
Gumtree has been good of late selling unwanted bike/party tent.
the party tent had the most interest and 3 people wanted it in the end
1st to appear took it at advertised price.

Now I only send address on the day when they are on the way, to minimize the time spent waiting for people.
anyone need a ladies cycle? smile

I was trying to figure out there for a while how a tent could double for both the purposes of a bike and for parties ...

I quote like the idea of the Party Tent Bike. Whizz across the countryside on your bike, stop where you like and unfold the bike into a tent and instant partaaay.

Party anywhere, anytime, with anyone with the Party Tent Bike!

My favourite thing about the group is the moderation style.

Don't like it here? Then do one, we don't want to hear your complaints!

Listed a bunch of PC parts on Gumtree over the weekend. All the adverts state the price, that its strictly cash on collection, and my postcode (Bracknell - or about 24 miles from this innit chancer). The convo so far, though im *this close* to just smashing everything up and setting fire to it.

If anyone can make sense of this advert, they're doing better than me.

Be sure to look through the pictures for full enjoyment.
