It will still be recycled. Staples generally by magnet once the cardboard is shredded and the tape is separated once the cardboard is turned to slurry where it will float to the top and be skimmed off.

I don't see the problem myself. If male runners find the tech is more comfortable in a bra-like holder then who cares and why not.

A related question; when a book is described as 'pulped', because of legal action or a massive editorial/typesetting goof etc, do they actually pulp them or is it just sent for landfill?

I suspect it's what's supplied by the kit manufacturers and they're "developing a new marketing opportunity". Contrast to referees who seem to have usb cables sellotaped up their arm to the earpiece.

Yes.

The paper is mulched and pulped with a proportion of virgin material added (around 25%) to make new paper or paper based products.

Very little goes to landfill these days. If it can't be recycled, it's generally used to make electricity by burning it.

Wouldn't that bounce around a lot and be really annoying? Plus presumably if they're monitoring heat rate you want it touching on the chest. I've not actually seen the things to refer too, but many runners use a chest strap to hold a heart rate monitor on thier chest, which is much more accurate than a wrist based monitor. Someone does actually make a bra that the Garmin heat rate monitor module clips in to but my wife reckons it doesn't look as comfortable as her usual sports bras.

Many rugby teams use the sports bra/vest form factor too. They have a strap running through the front which covers the heart to measure heart rate, then the transmitter / GPS receiver sits between the shoulder blades.

The sportsbra type monitor is the most reliable for recording hr. For best results the monitor needs to be in constant contact with the skin directly above the heart.The transmitter can be elsewhere obvs.

It will be down to the house style of the station concerned.

They may not also use their real name - when I did travel news I had several made-up names depending on which station I was broadcasting on, but always used my real name when presenting shows.

There are myriad reasons TBH.

Branding / client contractual reasons is one example. If you are voicing bulletins for more than one station they may not want the same person on more than one station, or if you are pre-reccing then it avoids issues of "Person X" reading two different bulletins on different stations at the same time.

Another example is if you are doing travel news AND also presenting shows on a different station, you may want to keep your presenting persona separate from your travel news persona.

Another example is if you are voicing a BBC bulletin at 2 mins past the hour, whose house style is very BBC and straight laced, then at 5 past the hour you are on a commercial station with a wild and wacky zoo format. It doesn't make sense that it's the same person voicing both.

There were some quite silly pseudonyms back in the day - Jeff Stryker, Victoria Station, Amy Highway.....

Now the likes of Metro Networks and AA Roadwatch are no more, and a lot more stations do it in house as they are part of large groups, it's all a bit more sensible these days.
