That is categorically incorrect. As a part of my job, I programme/commission traffic signals, and I can confirm that when a ped demand button is present, it 100% does actively enter in to the phasing sequence. There may be a situation where one arm of a signallised junction gets a green man by default when that arm gets a red (to vehicles) light. But even then, the ped button, if pressed, will allow a guaranteed minimum green man time to allow for slower road crossing users. The pedestrian demand button is never, ever set to blank/ignored.

Chapter 11 gives you all you need to know.
Well I take it all back then but for two decades I have never pressed a button and when alone at a crossing the green man has never let me down in coming on when said lane of traffic is stationary.https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/media/5df...

I read it years ago on a news article so since then never bothered to press it.
Watching MAFS Australia (trash I know) Why do they feel the need to constantly recap and repeat, like all Australian shows do? Neighbours, Home & Away, Prisoner cell block H, Undercover Boss Australia. Every ad break ends, repeating what you watched a minute ago before the break. Every new episode starts off recapping the events of the last one you've just watched. Have Australians got chronic amnesia or something?

Padding and perceived drama. Not confined to Aussie TV either. 'I'm a Celebrity Border Force Motorway Cop Trucker Who Says Yes to the Dress bks' all do it. It's where the primary subject matter has, in reality, little drama so this is added with rapid recaps, whooshes and tension building transitions which give the perception of drama.

Cheap way for producers to pad out the programme to time, if you have a 22 minute programme but only actually need to shoot for 18 minutes of footage.Blib said:

People here are asking questions and wanting answers.
Sadly, that's all I've got. People here are asking questions and wanting answers.

Signing the Official Secrets Act, does it make any difference or is it all theatre to make a point?
It’s not like you will get away with something because you haven’t signed the Act is it? Would someone who has signed get a heavier sentence than someone who hasn’t?
It is just theatre, in the UK you're bound by the OSA when you learn secret things regardless of having signed a small piece of paper. It’s not like you will get away with something because you haven’t signed the Act is it? Would someone who has signed get a heavier sentence than someone who hasn’t?
