It's really no hardship to follow whatever rules are currently in force. It has made no significant difference to my life.
And if you become required to be tested daily / weekly and produce a 'health passport' before you are allowed to enter a public space / access services... ?

Gave up months ago trying to understand the stupid rules that change every week

Not been in a shop since the face masks came in just can't be bothered with all the hassle or dealing with some Hitler in a shop because I dared go the wrong way or something
I popped into the local shop today for some bits and when I was halfway shopping, I realised that I had forgotten my Mask. One of the people on the tills said that he technically should not be serving me and that next time I should be wearing it. I half felt like making a scene, but then thought that the hassle was just not worth it.

This begs the question though, are shops legally allowed to refuse you service if you forget your Mask?

Technically yes, shops can refuse to serve you for almost any reason (I.E. no shoes, no shirt, no service). They just don't.

Like you I've popped into a shop sans mask once or twice because I've forgotten it, the only thing that's ever been said was "oh well, just remember it next time", I just keep a few in my car, job jobbed. Retail workers have enough crap to deal with without arguing with swivel-eyed loons who liken being asked to wear a mask during a pandemic to fascism.

I've said it before, forget national service, everyone should be forced to work retail for 2 years just so they understand how much of a the average person is.

My thinking is, basically forget the government, they dont know what to do for the best and its like the worlds biggest fking retarded cat herding event.

Its you as an individual vs a virus, same as every other virus but we haven't seen this one before, because Chinese folk eat everything and anything without feeling the need to cook, or even kill it they are providing us with new organisms we haven't dealt with before which fks us up a bit, especially if we are bit pre fked up anyway.

Some folk have jobs that mean they cant avoid contact with people, and a lot of those people are leaky, selfish, greedy and stupid. A lot arent fktards but there is a fairly hardcore of them, they are the reason why you see beauty spots blighted with sacks of McDonalds debris, if you cant get your head round putting your crap in a bin the concept of avoiding a virus is a bit beyond you.

A lot of bravado is shown, especially when alcohol and strength in numbers is shown, "fk you Boris", well guess what, Boris doesnt really give a toss what you think you spunk trumpet other than collectively, you are morons that are enabling the spread of the virus and prolonging it, along with those who simply cant 100 percent avoid it.

I am following it, I am lucky enough to work form home, I have given up going to the gym as it has a high percentage of Insta tts who think that the signs wiping stuff down doesnt apply to them. I am getting out on my bike a few times a week to get some exercise and a change of scene, go to the shops once a week for groceries. Been out a few times as things were seeming to settle down but not really doing at the moment.

The government cant do much, the Police cant watch 66 million people, seen people in their bar/shed on Facebook having big parties "Oooh arent we naughty", yeah, then when you are breathing through a tube, you wont feel quite so bold. I have done stuff in the past where I have realised down the line what a fking arse I had been so am erring on the side of caution.

Realistically, something else will probably kill me other than this, might get it, be a bit ill, get better, had a gardeners pickup force me into a hedge on my bike, way more danger than this presents, but prepared to just keep a low profile for a few months, it will go eventually, after all all the previous pandemics have been mitigated and a vaccine created with way less knowledge and resources.

Oh yes, I've currently worked nearly a decade in Retail. So I know how moronic the Public can be.

I am mostly, but I have to admit to using screenshots from the missus instead of installing the app when venues demand it.

As someone from an information security background, I just can't believe the data generated is used exclusively for COVID and that the tracking will stop at COVID.
Can you pop up a list of all apps on your phone you approve of and what handset? Thanks!

As for the thread, yes.

Breaking possible lines of transmission during a pandemic is noddy stuff, and anyone having a whinge about that basic concept is either a dhead or thick - or both.

I maintain a 2m distance strictly. I feel that's more important than anything. Use the hand sanitiser readily, and at work, even in the office, I'll skype/share screen rather than go and speak in person.

I won't see great grandma, or people at high risk.

No gatherings over 6 etc. Will not use public transport at the mo, and have stopped going out.

However I don't wear a mask when shopping.

I think it's the job of the scientists to give the govt advice on the best way forward, but it's the job of the govt to decide what we actually do. Of course the science says a full lockdown is the best way forward. Of course it is, that's bloody obvious. If you want the best way to stop old people slipping over in the ice and snow and getting seriously hurt or dying, it would be to ban old people from going out at winter. But we don't do that. If an old person is scared of slipping over, then they shouldn't go out. If they want to take the risk, they do.

The science would tell you that to reduce road deaths, ban motorcycles, ban cars over 1000cc, max speed 30 mph anywhere, minimum driving age 30, max age 80, and no pleasure use in cars, just business, school run and food shopping. That would get road deaths right down. But is that how we want to live?

I think it's right that the govt advise and recommend. But my mates dad was 95 recently. If he wants a party at home with all his family, he understands the risks but wants to do it anyway, who are the govt to stop him? How many more birthdays has he got?

It's outrageous that we've ridden roughshod over personal freedoms. Everyone should be free to assess the risks they face and make their own call.
In the distant past I haven’t always agreed with you on some topics but the statement above I back 100%

But it makes a massive difference to some people's lives. And it's a huge hardship. All to protect themselves against a risk they may be willing to take, but are not allowed to.

All too many people seem keen for this to be the case. I know not why. Me, I am happy to return to how it was right now.

I get that, but the risk is not just about that individual getting infected. It's more about that person getting infected (who may not know it) and then infecting others. It's not just about themselves.

Only if you give us evidence that anything the scientists instruct us to do actually lowers infection rate.

In the last few weeks wearing facemasks has made no difference at all.

I wash my hand because i have OCD. I don't wear a mask on the train because I can't breathe but I do wear one on the tube so I don't scare people. I make space because i'm anti-social. Gotta admit i actually look forwards to work on Monday now.

The only way to know that is to run the last few weeks again, this time without masks.

I pretend to unlock my phone (well not quite pretend as it has face recognition) and pull it downevery now and again - don't know why but I get dizzy if i wear it too long.
