Never heard the term. I could only assume it was referencing the doll on the dogs lap (if you REALLY squinted and didn't know what one looks like) looking a little faecal.

The best and brightest from VW and Jaguar got together, come up with a design which stuck two 5 cylinder engines together, someone suggested that a 10 cylinder doesn't look too good in todays day and age and someone from Jaguar said "no worries, we'll just not put two pistons in and we'll peen the holes over..." But to save costs engineering got given one block and head to work with and got told in broken english that this is for the new V8 V10 and we've gotta get rid of the two cylinders like we did with that V8 years ago.......

According to Google the '9' identifies it as an FIA homologated race part to distinguish it from the everyday version with the same part number

Indeed. The inference with my post is that the Jag bit of the puzzle got rid of cylinders 8 and 10 as they only had one bank of cylinders on which to prototype....
