The joys of academic (or concept) engineering vs practical engineering.

See it all the time in my industry - nuclear.

I am probably going to hell for laughing at this. BBC breakfast were doing a piece on heart attacks and CPR and had a couple on the sofa, the wife had woken in the night and realised her husband was having a heart attack and wanted to get him on a solid surface. But she said" he was on the bed, so I tugged him off." I thought that's one way to get his heart re-started, but probably not in the Red Cross handbook.

I spent most of my career in the nuclear industry. Thankfully, I have seen a lot more suspension failures than nuclear failures! 😁

hehe

I honestly can't remember the last time I saw a car with a suspension failure.

I've read a lot of opex reports though wink

My point though was the difference between what the academic hand waves into existence vs what it needs to look like following HAZOPs, FMEA, legal compliance, etc.

That pic nicely summed it up for me.

Sticks.
