A ton along the Portbury Hundreds was unachievable in my minis and cortina. Didn’t stop me trying though.
Nowadays it is far too easy to do a ton along there, the only thing stopping me is delivery drivers with trade plates walking in the road
Some people are so inconsiderate:Nowadays it is far too easy to do a ton along there, the only thing stopping me is delivery drivers with trade plates walking in the road
Don't they realise the damage that the sharp edges of trade plates can cause to a bloke's nearside? tts!
202 NF.
That was our trade plate number. Surprising affordable once you've cleared the background checks to qualify.
I was sad/reluctant to hand them back at the end of my car dealing days.

This year we're off to Scotland in September glenrobbo, next year is the one that's proving difficult as it's her 50th and i've told her she can choose where ever she wants to go, she can't make her mind up between the Peak District and Cornwall!!!
Has she holidayed in either region before?Cornwall was where I first met my darling wife.
The Sailor's Arms, Newquay, June 1969. It was such a blissful time, beautiful weather, lovely beaches, great memories. Almost 52 years ago...
They say that a holiday romance never lasts.
Well, they're right.
The Peak District. Some spectacular scenery, fantastic walks, lots of history, birthplace of the industrial revolution, and some great pubs - Well, there used to be, pre-pandemic )
And prices are mostly sensible, not like darn sarf. Plenty to do and see, even on a wet day.
But it hardly ever rains in the Peak District.

Rothbury Alnwick area.
In the north east, stay for a weekend.
Alnwick castle, worlds biggest treehouse.
Massive bookshop, a local hotel whose dinning room is made for fixtures and fitting from RMS Olympic ( Titanic sister ship ).
Then go up the road and have a day at Bamburgh castle and beach. Then nip into Bewick on Tweed, then an hour up the road Edinburgh.

Mrs. Bobbers would enjoy Gosport.
Located on England’s south coast – just across the harbour from Portsmouth, Gosport and Lee-on-the-Solent offer an irresistible mix of fascinating places to visit and things to do for all ages. 24 miles of waterfront, safe panoramic beaches, impressive naval heritage, plenty of watersports plus scenic countryside walks and historic trails, there is much to keep the family entertained.

Yes we've been to both before glenrobbo, spent our 20th wedding anniversary in Cornwall, ate in Rick Steins restaurant, had a lovely time, spent her 30th in Derbyshire, she spent a small fortune buying up loads of the Portmeirion botanic garden that she used to collect!!!
Padstow? I like Rick Stein. I've never met him, but he seems like a genuine affable, honest, unpretentious, self-effacing type who enjoys a bevvy or two.
Surely she bought the crockery in the Potteries? Stoke, Burslem, Hanley? That's Staffordshire.
We bought a lot of the same pattern years ago in Porthmadog, not far from Portmeirion village.
You could book a week in one of the pretty houses there and keep her a Prisoner there. Don't forget to take a big white balloon with you.
It's bloody expensive, mind, look you boyo! Costs a small fortune, isnit?

Yeah we stayed just outside and North of Stoke on Trent, but visited Bakewell, Buxton, Chatsworth and a few other National Trust places up that way!!!
