My other game is again, rather loudly, in a queue

“ has our social been paid in yet ?”

The irony being: people actually refer to pay day or being paid when receiving their dole.

As if they have worked for it etc.
I had one the other day complaining that they had missed out on a benefit and were insisting the council will give them backpay - they hadn't worked a day in their life...

Ha that's amazing. I said to my wife if we had a boy I would name him Bruce (we had girls though).

Just think of how many epic Bruces there are in the world:

Bruce Lee
Bruce Willis
Bruce Springsteen
Bruce Forsyth
Bruce Grobbelaar
Bruce Wayne
Bruce Banner
Bruce Dickinson
Bruce Jenner (albeit now Caitlyn)

You lost me at Jenner - epic?

It could be historical, there is a lot of Geordie-diaspora in certain parts of Oz.
It’s very common to keep a surname alive by giving it as first name in the NE.

Robson Green
Jerome Flynn

I sailed with a Robson Walker (hard to say it with putting on a Geordie accent!) and an Armstrong Hale.
Really? I have lived in the NE (not Newcastle though) all my life and have never heard of this.

Wikipedia says: Jerome Flynn - "Flynn was born in Bromley, Kent (now part of Greater London)"
Wikipedia says: Robson Green - "His father, also named Robson Green, was a miner"

I've heard RG talk about this, a Northumbrian thing apparently. Don't think JF applies here though.

When I asked Robson Walker that was his explanation.

I was trying to illustrate that it may not be council to have a first name that is also a surname.

funny thing is when the Kardashians started dominating the headlines I'd heard of Caitlin Jenner and wondered if she was related to Bruce - little did I know!! And yes 1976 olympics for BJ gives him/her epic status
