...heard yesterday on a moorland walk in northern England, lots of them in fact - always a sign of Spring to my mind and so uplifting to hear!

..seems early, I can't ever recall hearing them so soon the season?

Same here in Nottingham. I had about 5 singing away, it's quite early.

The other week just before the snow I saw my first chiffchaff of the year. It was rummaging about under a hedge. Must have arrived on a warm wind and no doubt got caught out by the snow.

Spotted a couple on the Ridgeway a couple of weeks ago, wasn't sure but played their song on You Tube as it was identical to what we could hear.

Awful pic but was nearly 30x zoom on my phone

Don't think I've ever seen a Skylark, but I did have a Red Kite flying around on Friday, getting harassed by some seagulls.First saw them a few years ago and they seem to be resident now and see them a few times a year.
