Prices going up for no reason
Mrs Summers went for a hair appointment yesterday. Her hairdresser is self employed and rents a chair in a salon.
Usual price last year was £65, This time was £140, she asked why and was told they had taken on 2 apprentices, Mrs Summers asked where they were as there was only her and the hairdresser in the salon. 'they only work on Friday and Saturday'..

I see this email footer is becoming more common in tttish corporate circles...
'I do not expect a reply in the evening, on weekends or during your time off.'
Just. fk. Off with your passive agressive greater than thou attitude. I'll email you at midnight if I feel like it, or not at all.

But that's what it says. Basically treating email like it's meant to be used. Asynchronously, an email does not require an immediate response, if it requires a response at all.
"Very unique"... "most unique" ...or similar.
Something is either unique, or it isn't. Yes, PGA, I'm looking at you:

The increasing amount of security needed to get into certain websites, I spent about 15 minutes trying to get into paypal, requiring security codes via email and texts, because I made the monumental error of using a different phone than usual, I was not located in my home postcode and I hadn't used paypal for a few weeks.
There comes a point where all this security hysteria actually cancels out the ease and quickness of online shopping.

Hand soap/sanitiser dispensers, which seem to direct the soap anywhere other than into my hand. Two of the most egregious examples...
Handwash by the kitchen sink:
Using one hand, squeeze out a reasonable amount of gel, right hand waiting eagerly below.
Release squeeze, handwash gets sucked back into bottle.
Squeeze bottle again, this time smearing nozzle across right hand and hoping most of it doesn't slip off into the sink below. Inevitably it does.
Wash hands.
Foot operated sanitiser dispensers at work:
Place hand beneath nozzle.
Depress foot pedal to launch torrent of gel onto trouser leg.
Get sharp object and remove week's worth of gunge from tip of nozzle.
Depress foot pedal to dispense sanitizer at a sensible speed and direction into waiting hand.
Spend rest of day walking around with suspicious stain on trousers.

What is going on at British Gas ? I know they have an ongoing industrial dispute and "Covid", but their service lately is abysmal. We had a very noisy boiler a few months ago, so called Homecare. No engineers available for 2 months, so I Googled it and fixed it myself. I did manage to book a service though, for last Thursday. Engineer called to cancel obvs and rearranged for today. I called earlier for a rough eta as there is nothing on the app, to be told the service had been done on Thursday and we had no appointment booked. They can book me another appointment for July though ...

My boiler service was due in February but due to Covid I couldn't book one at the time. After reading your comment about July, I thought I would check the app again and to my surprise, it prompted me to book an appointment. To my complete surprise, it allowed me to make an appointment for this afternoon. I'll be honest, when the phone rang and the girl said "British Gas" I thought they were calling to reschedule but no, it was the engineer to say she was on her way.
