Trying to get tradesmen to respond to a request for a quote for a job

Fairly small job ( remove electric hob and replace with a gas hob ) - 14 local companies approached over the last week, and not one has deigned to reply :/

Auto renewal setings on insurance policies.

I recall doing everything in my power to ensure I didn't select auto renewal when I took out the policy a year ago, yet here we are and the only way to opt out is to ring a fking help line, it's funny how you can do absolutely everything else you could need online but not say no to your renewal.

Scheming wkers.

Edit: To be fair, they're online chat service sorted it in a few mins with little interrogation, still annoying though that it's not just a button to click.

Thinly sliced bread. Tesco thick Toastie bread should be the minimum legal requirement.

Sliced bread in general.
It's pretty much impossible to get an unsliced loaf from a supermarket around here, and the bakeries are shut by the time I leave work. It's always sliced way too thin.

Agree for anything but toast.

Cheap, thin bread is great for toast.

That's working class.

Do they have working class in The Netherlands?

...and yet, if you're at an event where such nonsense occurs, if you don't join in you are subject to much eye-rolling and tutting, along with accusations of "being a miserable bar steward". Even by your own companions. I think it's simply impossible to win with this one.

Sliced bread at all - medium sliced bread is now the thickness that thin sliced used to be, so now I have to use thick or toastie all the time, and it feels wrong somehow. If I buy unsliced and do it myself, it'll end up in the "pictures that make my teeth itch" thread.

I believe it’s banned at Australian cricket grounds.
I think you get it when world cups and the like come around. People who aren’t really fans think they should , go along but get bored. You never see it at Old Trafford on a Saturday , however bad the game gets.

That's because they are busy on other better jobs, it would be better if they got back to you to let you know though.

I know it's naff, but they appear to be having such a fun time it seems churlish for fat-arsed couch spuds be snobby about it.

Exactly. Something to do to entertain yourself at an athletics stadium between events while the grounds staff set out the hurdles? Fine. Doing it while a match or event is ongoing is pretty disrespectful to the participants, and to fellow spectators who don't wish to be distracted by silly games. Nothing "snobby" about it at all.

Thames Water website: it doesn't work in Chrome properly but it works ok in Firefox.

I thought we were now living in 2021, not 2001?

My local Tesco Extra slices all of the unsliced bakery bread towards the end of the day. This has been going on for years and I still don't know why.

I asked a member of staff why they did it and the staff member didn't know either rolleyes

It's probably more likely to sell as a sliced loaf.

Surely not, otherwise they'd slice it at the start of the day too? If I wanted sliced bread, I'd just buy a regular loaf of Hovis or similar.
