Stages 1, 2 and 3 are real things.
Of course, they are also made up, as is everything that came from somebody's imagination.
The truth really is that in most cases Stage 2 is more like Stage 1.2, and Stage 3 - the poorest in terms of value/performance increase - is more like Stage 1.3. Doesn't sound as cool though.Of course, they are also made up, as is everything that came from somebody's imagination.
For my sins I occasionally watch a TV programme and follow along on Twitter to see what the consensus is on that programme. This week I watched Great British Menu, and Twitter was lit up red with people complaining that the judges were too mean.
Perhaps this is an indicator of an ongoing infantilisation in our society, but a lot of people don't seem to be able to parse constructive criticism at all. They see any sort of criticism as a personal attack and roll out the Caroline Flack (RIP our queen, resting wif da angles now) style of 'Be Kind' platitudes. From watching this show I don't think any of the judges ever crossed the line into making it personal.
What is also annoying is that these thickos don't realise that a lot of footage ends up on the cutting room floor, so some faceless producer chooses the clips with the judge being harsh versus the clips of the judge being measured or more complimentary.
Conversely, in shows like Ru Paul's Drag Race you do see baseless personal attacks quite frequently. Somehow that is acceptable...

Having to break apart a pork pie (or the wedge segments of) to remove the horrible nasty translucent silicon sealant that's put into it and ruins it
The jelly? I don't like that either but there isnt so much of it these days. A crispy outside crust with a tooth breaking rim around the top.
A layer of jelly to ease you from the outer layer to the main feature within.
The pork. A salty deliciousness mixture of tender porcine and sage and to finish:
Brown sauce for dipping the resultant pie to complete the mini banquet that you are about to devour.
The amount of litter on roadsides, especially on dual carriage and motorways, it depresses me immensely.
I know why it is left as it makes no money for councils to do anything about it, but personally I would volunteer to pick it up in a group if locals could find a way to make that possible.
it sickens me it really does.

It annoys me, too. There are plenty of local volunteer litter-picking groups, I'm surprised there isn't one in your area.I know why it is left as it makes no money for councils to do anything about it, but personally I would volunteer to pick it up in a group if locals could find a way to make that possible.

My problem with picking it up is the knowledge that somewhere, there's a litter dropper who is laughing at me and vowing to continue throwing their litter wherever they want, because they know someone will tidy up after them.

You are allowed to a) do it on your own and b) set up a group yourself.I know why it is left as it makes no money for councils to do anything about it, but personally I would volunteer to pick it up in a group if locals could find a way to make that possible.
