Ford Mustang GT. Soulless and less fun to drive than my Skoda Citigo with 1/7th of the power.

An MX5 mk3.75

Looked great, but just never bonded with it and genuinely can’t see what the fuss is about. So slow.

Kept if about six months and replaced it with a 595 Competizione which was so much more fun.

A Le Creuset ceramic oven dish which cracked the first time it was used. Retailer patronisingly insisted she could tell from the crack we had done something wrong, thermal shock, she said. We hadn’t. Said she would send it back but they would not refund when they looked at it. They refunded. We won’t buy another or use that shop again, we bought a Pyrex one instead which isn’t pretty but actually works.

We have Le Creuset.

A casserole thing that was bought for us 30 years ago. Bloody brilliant.

Also a different version, flatter, £240.00 I think, bought a couple of years ago. Also brilliant.

Both will see me out and I'm only 57.

This Kitchenaid Toaster...I don’t think they sell this anymore...
It was £200 plus ..back in 2002! hankered after it for a year passing a kitchen store each day.
Feeling flush I bought it...looked great but after 6 months buttons snapped off..
Hopeless customer service...regretfully went into a skip...put me off Kitchenaid for life.

On the other hand I get on with Dualit and Le Creuset...but yes accept the non stick have a lifespan.

hehe

She insisted we had got it hot and put cold liquid into it or put it into the sink. Nope.

...stuff about the
£299 got us the powerful sounding 'v6 animal'

being absolutely st.
I've concluded that cordless cleaners are all st, unless all you want to do is either a very quick job on a dry spill, or pretend to yourself you've vacuumed your house because you've on around for 20 mins.

Everyone blames the EU for st vacuums but your V6 Animal cleaner bangs out a whopping 24 watts in normal use, or 100 watts in 'power mode'. A plug in cleaner is limited to 900 watts and a I don't give a st what that tax cheating, Brexit pushing and then off-shoring Dyson says, no amount of cone shaped plastic can compensate for a power difference like that.
+1 - totally agree.

Mrs C n C was insistent that she wanted a cordless cleaner (as she doesn't like to drag the Miele Cat and Dog around, which despite the EU limitations can suck hard enough to lift the carpet).

I did say that cordless cleaners were utter rubbish and that we're not shelling out over £300 on a Dyson, so she got a best reviewed other make one from John Lewis. She thought it was "ok" on day one, but after about a week concluded it was rubbish, so returned it.

Still not listening to me saying that battery powered ones simply cannot match a mains powered one, shortly after some box arrives from QVC with a "better" cordless one. After a couple of weeks, despite ensuring the filters and brush bar are clear, she's concluded that it too is rubbish, so that went back.

I think the latest to arrive (this week) is some mains powered Shark upright, so I'm guessing that at least might have a fighting chance!
We have a Henry for proper cleaning. Super simple and bomb proof. God knows how old it is. It was my in laws. Then it was used by my SiL when she was a school cleaner for a bit, then my wife. Now it's here with us. Great bit if kit.

For little odds and sods (and the stairs) we have a little handheld Gtech cordless thing with a spinning brushy head, suction doesn't appear to be that strong but it sure picks up a lot of crud off the stair carpet

Pair of RM Wiiams boots. £300 and they just didn't fit. Bought them direct online from Australia, took ages to arrive and just never got around to swapping them over. Threw them out. Also hated the finish. All my fault. I hate buying things like that over the internet.

Ah, me too. The Yard Boots. Waxy finish.

Very uncomfortable. But happily I got back about 2/3 of my money on Ebay.

Similar. We have the current shape one, it has soft rolly suspension that then firms up which means in corners it rolls a lot and then settles but that initial roll is very disconcerting. God knows why journo's think it has good handling. Its slow, you sit on it rather than in it and it has the worst ICE/software I've ever encountered. It's lane departure warning system can't be turned off forcing you to indicate for every lane change even if there's no need too. Looks lovely but as soon as lockdown is over it's going!

I have an R26 and it's a thousands times nicer to drive.

Loake Boots. £250. Look great and they're sort of comfortable (after about a month of agony) but whenever I wear them I feel ungainly like I'm hauling around two tubs of concrete.

If you don’t have the sport model, it does roll a bit but not excessively.

Do you have the 1.5, I’ve got the 2019 MY 2.0, about 185 bhp it’s certainly not slow, although unlike the 160 bhp one I had previously the power comes in at higher revs, so compared to previous I need to drop a cog to get the power, but there is more of it.

I don’t have the lane departure on my current one, previous did and you could turn down the frequency of warnings, or turn it off by pressing the button.

5 years ago I bought a Sony Bravia XD93 TV. It was at the top of Sony's LCD range and set me back about £1,700.

I bought it on the strength of the 40" Bravia that I bought 13 years ago (and still provides sterling service on my kitchen wall to this day).

What a hateful piece of st the newer one was. Not only did it have a seemingly unfinished and untested OS, successive OS OTA upgrades only made it worse. It felt like it was powered by a potato and I had to reboot it on a daily basis to make it work properly. It couldn't seem to do HDR properly, and ended up with washed-out colours, and it was based on an older platform than other models lower down the range, meaning that it lacked native support for things like BBC 4K broadcasts.

The power distribution module failed on the set 3 times in 4 years, fortunately sorted under warranty every time. However, about a month ago I almost cried with joy when I switched it on and there was a corrupted horizontal line across the screen. Called Sony and they agreed that the panel had failed, and they exchanged it under warranty for a current model XH95 set, which is better in every conceivable way.

Its the Sport Recaro but the 2.0 160bhp one.

You can turn down LD warning to a low rumble but it cannot be turned off annoyingly.

It seems to be the thing now, bleeding lane departure warnings and making them harder to get rid of. I’ve had a VW ID.3 delivered today. Lane departure can be turned off but it’s about 5 layers down on the infotainment screen, then the setting is not persistent so every time you come back to the car it’s back on again. It’s really intrusive too - as well as tugging at the steering wheel there are bongs sounding, messages popping up on the dash, all sorts.

Two obvious ones for me:
Paying £1.6k for a Tag watch (more than 10 yrs back now) that is worn once possibly twice per year. They sell used now for about £1k so if I sell it's a fairly chunky loss... it's a nice watch but £1.6k worth of nice...no. I tend to prefer wearing G shocks and cheap Seiko/citizen for my daily's.

Shoes - lots and I mean LOTS of Loake/Barker/Grenson and quite a few others....the cumulative spend on them makes me want to cry...as I now only wear a cheap pair of Clarks (when in the office). The pricier ones are far too uncomfortable and cumbersome too wear and never actually seem to 'break in'.
