A friend reports 2 or 3 inches of fresh on Ben Macdui today.

It's a shame the top restaurant cam on Cairngorm is broken as I reckon it would be white.
Yep, that's my normal indicator of snow. But I've used a tweet confirming snow on Ben Nevis and the winter thread is OPEN...

Is it going to be the warmest September since records began?

I'm a winter denier in September so it's this thread , especially as it has thunder in the title .

About 8.45 pm had quite the light show and plenty of thunder claps too and some monsoon level rainfall , still raining now I think ,
I don't want to look outside ....boxedin

There may yet be a return to this thread, but hurricane/tropical storm remnants are playing havoc with the forecasting. Improving chances of a settled spell appearing during the 2nd half of the first week of October (when I'm in France bounce)

I've been eyeing up that hint of optimism in the forecasts! Kids on Scout camp then so we have a chance to get away. thumbup

In Colorado a couple of weeks ago we had a couple of cool days, then it went back to 80/90's for the daytime temperature - but the nighttime temperatures fell off a cliff for those two days, and never came back - nights are in the 40-50's right now, which is where they should be.

Days are now in the 70/80f range, again where they should be, which still counts as Summer. This thread needs to be alive for a couple more weeks.

Nope - the cool end prevented that happening (2nd warmest):

Oh well.

Before I check out of this thread as the Winter one is now going, I'd summarise this summer as:

  • Very nice overall
  • No extended heatwaves, although June got a bit feisty at times.
  • Just right, a 10/10 from me.

20c forecast for today and a steady 18/19c forecast for S Buckinghamshire over the weekend. I’m staying in this thread, I prefer it here!

If it means my grass dries up enough for me to cut it, then so do I

Grass successfully cut.

I've also dug out a couple of barrowloads of compost from the bottom of one of the big bins, spread it over the paths and let it dry enough to riddle it to remove all the sticks, stones and odd clump that hasn't rotted down.

I've just bought an XKR so if the weather can stay like this till the spring it would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Autumn has come to Colorado.

But only for the night shift. It's still 27c during the bloody day.
