This guy ^^^ Alex Honnold for what is probably the greatest singular athletic achievement I have ever seen, plus as others have posted and as I have read, Sir Adrian Carton de Viart, Audrey Hepburn and David Niven (both for the achievements far away from the silver screen), Neil Armstrong, Jim Lovell and Sir Ranulph Fiennes - I would humbly throw Eric Winkle Brown's flying hat into the ring on his behalf as well - not just for his flying skills but his attempts as an interpreter to discover the truth about the Nazi plans.I used to think McQueen, Connery, Sinatra et al were cool but if you read into their lives you realise they were a long, long way from that and in fact individuals such as those and others who could be so specifically cruel to others are automatically discounted from being considered cool.
All the people I have mentioned showed a huge amount of humility over their genuinely great achievements - a few of them achieved multiple fame through good fortune or perhaps luck but their stand-out achievements were and are understated by them despite the clamour for others to glamourize them.
Most people in entertainment roles have an image to portray and in that the public can believe they are that way in real life, and it 99.9% of cases it is not the case in real life. Hepburn and Niven went through WWII in their own ways and neither of them particularly liked to talk about it but stealing secrets past the SS whilst an emaciated teenage girl and giving up a high flying Hollywood career to fight on the front line takes some nerve - and both became friends because of their shared experiences.

Still credited with the highest number of confirmed kills by a single sniper, somewhere around the 500 mark if i remember correctly. What makes it even more incredible is he achieved this feat in 12 months.
How the hell is being a sniper cool? Whilst there may be skill involved it is probably the most cowardly way to kill someone. 500 kills? Makes them a mass murderer in my eyes.Hayha was a farmer and game hunter prior to the war breaking out. He used a rifle with iron sight. If he and his fellow soldiers hadn’t spread out, hidden and dug in, they’d have died very quickly. I don’t consider it cowardly at all
Edited to add a couple of links regarding the battle of Kollaa. I knew the idea of 32 Finns holding off thousands of Russians had come from somewhere.

My grandmother was from Karelia so I have always taken an interest in the stories of the loss of South Karelia.

Of the current era, Ryan Reynolds. He happily takes the mick out of himself despite his high profile. He comes across as a humble, genuine sort. Plus he owns a gin brand. And Wrexham FC. And I suppose he's not a bad looker either.
This video makes me laugh https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LqJp4byD6Cs where he's interviewed by his 'twin' brother.
Reynolds does seem to be a very cool chap and would, I think, be great fun to share a few beers with. And as a female equivalent, I give you Anna Kendrick. Her Twitter feeds suggests someone who doesn’t take themselves too seriously at all and also has a rather filthy sense of humour. In fact one of her ruder tweets was about the relative acceptability of self-pleasuring herself at the cinema whilst watching a Ryan Reynolds film. Oh, and Paul Newman, who someone posted earlier. I’m a straight man but Newman is so cool I’d have gone gay if he’d asked me.
