Hepburn and Niven went through WWII in their own ways and neither of them particularly liked to talk about it but stealing secrets past the SS whilst an emaciated teenage girl and giving up a high flying Hollywood career to fight on the front line takes some nerve - and both became friends because of their shared experiences.
