Just to avoid any confusion, astronauts John Young (pictured earlier) and John Glenn are two different people.

They most certainly are. Glenn might have been the first American to orbit the earth, but he was small fry to John Young.

Young flew Gemini 3 and Gemini 10, went round the moon on Apollo 10 and as commander of Apollo 16 he became the ninth man to walk on the moon. He flew the first space shuttle, and let us not forget there were no unmanned tests of the shuttle. He was basically an ice man. Sat on top of a Saturn V rocket at launch his heartrate peaked at 70. When landing on the moon his heartrate peak at 90. Neil Armtrong's heartbeat during landing peaked at 170.

No, I think the take-away is that this thread has brought out lots of older men who have minimal comprehension that “cool” disappeared with the 90s and that the way younger people think about others is very different.

Fair enough if you think that. I just remember when she sat there on TG and said I can go round that ring faster in a transit and it was said with a lot of gusto and passion. That to me was pretty cool.
