I think this thread shows it all rather depends on how one defines 'cool'. A lot of posters seem to be mistaking it with 'influential' amongst other things.

Surely Keith Richards and Janice Joplin deserve a mention? As has already been said, George was the coolest Beatle,

The Fonz wasn't cool, he was a prick. Arthur Fonzarelli thought he was cool and behaved like it, that is automatic disquaification in the 'being cool' stakes.

Keef on the other hand.....

I posted Keef earlier in the thread...

Fred Dibnah, cool without even trying.
Thinking on, I think Fred is pretty cool. In the 90s he used to go to a steam rally at a place called the Plassey in North Wales. Every evening over the bank Holiday, he would have a meal in the pub across the road from my house, with his family.
Talking to him one evening, I told him I had a 15m Victorian lean to greenhouse that I was going to knock down, as it was dangerous with having 5 kids playing around in the garden.
He knocked his pint back and said could he have a look. So took him over to have a look, and he loved it. Dig down here, strengthen this, make a patio here, open up here. Must of been there for about half an hour.
Think I best get back to the family, me gammon and eggs will be cold, great guy.
Looking back it was a great idea, but I flattened the lot a week later.

It's interesting how we all see things so differently, and is what makes the world interesting, etc.smilesmile

I see the Stones as pretty much the definition of uncool.

Not my idea of cool at all. Knowledgeable , dedicated, enthusiastic , fearless but not cool.
The evidence is stacking up.
I would agree with you but then we would all be wrong.

It certainly is. Its just Keith I would consider cool though. The Stones as a band have been a bit of a parody of themselves for years sadley haven't they.

If there is a cool stone, I give you Charlie Watts.

Seeing as Keith Richards credits Charlie Watts with being the unknowing originator of so many songs it's hard not to agree. Plus he has (or a least had) a collection of expensive motors and yet doesnt drive.

Fonz definitely not cool, just a bully.
Paul Newman and Fred Dibna both incredibly cool in completely different ways.

Here’s a controversial one. Bruce Lee.

Rock stars (like Keef above) tend to be what I perceive as cool there is a big list.

Hutchence I’ve always found intriguing.

Thanks for posting this, I've lost hours watching his video's now.... As you say, surprisingly talented guy and very cool in an almost uncool way.
One of the comments on his YT says ' James brown died and has come back as Ned Flanders' biggrin
Thanks +1 very cool.

Pretty much binged this channel to death since reading this. Very entertaining to watch, and surprisingly good just as work background music too.
