If I didn't find the 991 so damn narrow, I'd also have grabbed those.
I once again thank my narrow feet (although the v2 does seem roomier to me)

absolutely loving these, although the left shoe is far hairier suede. given returning to US is out of the question, can i just brush the right one to match?
Nice I would just rough them up yeah!
One of those suede brushes should probably do the trick. Get one of the smaller toothbrush style ones and test on a small area first.

I recently got back into Converse (high-tops, not those moon boot things) after a long absence. Forgot how much I love them, the look, the feel, everything. Thinking about it? Do it!
and superb for driving with too.
I like them, but they rub my little toe to death. I have wide feet and it's a curse!
Size up, even if only by a half. Most of my trainers are a 9 or 9.5 - any Converse I own are a 10. This flies in the face of the usual wisdom that you should size down in Converse, but they feel just right so I shan't be changing my method any time soon.

Another tip to share is that you really ought to try buying Converse '70s. They're a separate range from the standard Converse Chuck Taylor, apparently made closer in keeping with how they were made in the 1970s. What that means is that the canvas is thicker, the foxing tape is glossy, the laces are better, the toe cap is shaped differently, and that they're much more comfortable. The left is the normal Chuck Taylor, the right are the '70s.

You can sometimes score '70s on sale for less than the regular range. I bought a pair of brown high-tops a couple of months ago for £35. They haven't left the box yet but at that price I couldn't resist. This weekend I have been wearing Vans Sk8-Hi from the Anaheim Factory range, which are a bit like the '70s in that they're intended as closer to how they were made in the past.
I'll look into this, thanks.
Good shout here, will also look into it!

+1 on the great for driving thing too.
Not the best pic but here are the high tops I picked up a while back. Love the two-tone colour combo. Orange and slightly less orange biggrin

Super comfortable, super cool, super light. Can't lose when the weather is nice!

I never get bored of your nerdery Levin, and always learn something from your posts.

Kudos dude.
Thank you, this is one of the most positive threads on PH so it seems only right to share what knowledge I have and learn from others. smile

If you look at the size tags on the two shoes, there will be a long serial at the bottom of the tag containing letters and numbers. The final numbers should be either sequential or very, very close (the codes on my Campus '80s end 01 and 03). This should be indicative of a perfect pair made at just about the same exact time. If the two serials differ significantly I would suggest they were perhaps made from two different hides, hence the difference in the suede. The two serials shouldn't be identical, either.

I'm with Jimi. It's a t-shirt. The cut isn't even that great. You can find t-shirts with great materials, with great cuts for £50 with no branding on them if you know where to look. Anyone spending £300 on a plain t-shirt just has too much money and wants to waste it. Fools and their money, etc...
Feel free to show me a silk cotton T shirt for £50! laugh Reiss is a brand I admire but their T shirts for £40ish aren't even full cotton

Even the Sunspel ones at £85ish are a step above my Boss cotton ones in terms of materials.

Not intended to be tongue in cheek but what's wrong with these?

https://www.marksandspencer.com/slim-fit-pure-cott...

Yeah, alright it's not a cool brand, but 100% cotton, slim fit, wash well, decent fit.

What's not good about them?

Thanks for the recommendation, grabbed a pair! Also copped some other sales....Probably going to send at least 1 pair back, just seeing what fits the best.
Well the 550s and the TRX were a wash! Much too narrow for my feet. Really pleased with the quality on the Forum 84s, they are incredible for the money and a great fit- was surprised by how furry the suede is, didn't come across from the product photos at all but it adds a nice variation to my trainer lineup.
