I'll be 56 in December. I've got one slightly achey hip, but apart from that I'm good. I've been on a bit of a health kick since the start of lockdown, have lost a stone and a half, now have visible abs for the first time in twenty years and can manage 200 push ups in half an hour. Fitter now than I've been in a decade, and possibly even in the last twenty-five years.
That's a fantastic achievement spikeyhead, I know full well that I need to get off my lazy fat arse and do some exercise, I make a start for a few days and then laziness kicks in, I really do need to make a concerted effort!!!

Starting whitebait season is always good - involves some quality time with some friends/ camaraderie. The other part of the post - having to recognise physical fitness deterioration due to aging - less than good in a job requiring just that. I'd like to be 30-40 again/ 25-35, even better.
Breathing through a bent piece of garden hose/ snorkel is better at 25 than 55.
What jobs are available at wemakeplanebits.com? that are geographically flexible? I could be a whisky taster, perhaps - long bow needs to be drawn, but I miiiight be persuaded.
Yeah, I miss read your original post!! paperbag
As for wemakeplanebits.com, we're screaming out for skilled machinists, fitters and inspectors, we can't get skilled people in though!!!
And if there's a whisky sampling/testing job going I'll fight you for it!!! rofl
Arm- wrestle. I'll lose . Breath hold, I might be interested. There could be some fun had here. Is it a tandem event?
I think in the state I'm in you'd win hands down at most things, apart from possibly static strength, strangely I've had good leg/back strength!!

Paua! Do you have your own pitch for fishing the whitebait? With a shed?
Is it still only a third of the river's width you can catch? Something like that I seem to recall.

Don't worry about the fitness deterioration chap! I just plough on and take no notice of it. Yes it hurts and I do less hours but still go for it when graffting.
I look at it as keeping me fit and strong along with the dog walking.

It is absolutely lashing it down here.

I'd like to be fit but chronic ill health may well prevent that ever being the case

Entertaining but potentially concerning email sent out company wide on Friday, the new week will hopefully bring it into focus b ut if it is what i think it is, i'm okay. If it's what it sounds like, then i foresee a new career at Asbo heading my way.

However, only a short week as the Slopeseseseseseseses* are off on us holibobs again, that there Yorkshire this time

* yes it does include Buster the Slopes Hound this time

I'm surprised I've got so far, but am now enjoying exercising for the sake of it. The gym is finally open at work too, which will help with some variety. I'm one of half a dozen in their late 50s that sit near each other at work. The two that don't exercise are struggling with their health.

I spend a lot of my day moving around or on my feet, my health is OK, my fitness so-so, my strength is OK, but repetitive strength not so good, we have access to a very good gym/swimming pool/country club type of thing free through work and while very tempted to go back to using it it would be very tempting for me to start doing weights again, which I don't think would be good for me without improving my fitness first.

To be honest Bobbers, if i have to find another role elsewhere, then it won't be the worst thing to ever happen.
I suspect that reading between the lines, it was just an ambiguous line in an email but we shall see.

It's absolutely fine so long as you've signed the visitors book, tipped Battert generously when he served you, and above all else didn't abandon your car in/on/around the drive/turnaround/hedges/ornamental fountain or grass verges!!!

I've been watching some of todays BTCC, I was unaware of the sad loss of one of the stewards at Brands Hatch yesterday.

Hippy birthyey Bobberoo, .... I note you had a takeaway curry a few days ago ....Poor scheduling dear chap,

Talking of fitness ... Did I tell anyone I'm the main posterboy for a 2022 endurance event

I guess they know their (e before i) market is aiming for middle-aged plodders trying to relive their youth

Afternoon all! wavey

I have noted that our CIC is celery/celibate/celebrating his birthday today, so, many returns of happiness to you Bobbers, not so old chap!! party

I note that many residents are still in their prime and were in short pants whilst yours truly was being shot at in that there W Africa! Makes me feel old but not yet too old to be foolish, or rash! tongue out

Talking of being rash, I was acquainted with (Sir) Christopher Cockerell and was piloting some of his early designs much to everyone's amusement, in a small field which sloped, albeit gently, but nonetheless ensured I was fighting its attempt to fall down the hill and kill me in a ball of fire and spinning propeller! Oh how we laughed ....

BTW, he drove a Daytona Yellow Triumph Dolomite Sprint which was quite the thing in those days, but was in complete contrast to his normal attire of tweed jacket, cap, and pipe!!

Did you know that a 5 ball 'over' isn't a new invention?

Good evening.
