Next on the list (has been since I was a child) is an Eames lounge chair, but I don't really have the space or home to justify it at the moment:
Always had a soft spot for those Eames chairs, would love to have one in the backroom when it's finished, along with some nice examples of these....loughran said:

There's a number of similar tables available but this expanding circular dining table is fascinating.
Here's one for your poop deck.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Epv2AYSrEhc

A biking mate of mine is a 30yr experienced RR aero engineer at Filton, used to work on these. He could probably well assist!
Serendipitous! My professional life has taken me to the single Crystal forge there and the EJ200 final assembly line. Now we just need the budget.I’ve got £600.
Maybe it's my age (59) but all these things, they're just stuff. I've gone right off stuff. Just lost interest in accumulating things. I value experiences far more. A meal out with my wife and sons is better that an object. Going places, doing stuff, that's what interests me. Of course, there's stuff I need, food, clothes, a house, a car, my bicycle, but there's nothing solid I want. Just can't be bothered with it.

But it’s not a choice, one doesn’t preclude the other.Do you also have no interest in art, or beauty? With the exception of the awful speakers which started the thread off, most of the things people are
posting objects of beauty, or fascination.

I agree with the sentiment - liking stuff doesn't mean "gotta have" or lust after it yhoughTwigtheWonderkid said:

Then you're on the wrong thread. Go and be a wet blanket somewhere else.

some chairs are made to sit on ....... and some just to look at.
We have an Eames chair…and can confirm that it hardly ever gets sat in. Not really sure why. Has been transported between and used in five houses so far but wherever it’s been it has hardly been used. Looks nice but not our Best Buy.RobbieTheTruth said:

I am in the same boat at Twig. I used to be much more interested in acquiring stuff and we still have lots of designer furniture and I’ve got some nice watches but in the past five to ten years I’ve lost my desire and interest. It might just be an age thing or possibly I got sucked into buying stuff as I was earning a lot and friends and colleagues were buying similar.
Now I’m retired our income has taken a big hit so lucky that most of my hobbies are free or reasonably cheap.

I completely emphasise with the sentiment... Its just peak douche to express it on this thread, like a vegan talking themselves up on a ultimate beefburger thread or a teetotaler on the best malt whisky thread.
Many years ago, I earned a 7 day ban from the Formula 1 sub-forum.
IIRC, a Fernando Alonso thread was being trolled by a Lewis Hamilton fan and - despite being constantly asked to direct his comments to the other LH thread at the time - the troll persisted. Eventually, I suggested that the poster in question stuck his head in a bucket of st; using an image of a bucket of st. Ban was predictable.
So, yes, like you state, it is odd that someone would click on a thread titled 'Random objects of desire' to post (paraphrase), 'I don't desire any random objects'.
I desire many things, most of which are not random I can't think of anything, except having a working example of a Pratt & Whitney R-4360 engine
