Still on the fence with this.
I have been in since #1,
but for recieving my last present I had to pay a whopping post-brexit customs fee,
wonder if my victim also had to do this ?
that really does suck!

imagine paying customs fees on the stocking filler

They didn't. smile

Very annoying that you had to pay out though. I wonder if there's a way round it by stating that your gift needs to be bought in Germany/on a German website. Makes things a bit more tricky for your Santa but not impossible.

My SS was in a different country, I bought their presents online in that country and shipped straight to them. Much easier!

Hmm, looking at what people associate with shopping in Holland, I’m likely to obtain stroopwafel flavoured sex toys. Or clogs. Sex clogs.

I never thought of buying in a foreign country because my presents are often hand-crafted one-offs.

Could be an option, though, but then there would be no PH wrapping ? Hmmmmmm.

Maybe Santa could pair these foreigners if they are even in numbers ?

Ach und Weh, Xmas is only once a year, and PHSS is one of the few things I really enjoy in those "festive times",

so....bring it on !

If it meant more people would join in I’d be happy to chip in to/organise an international postage/customs fund! - anyone willing puts a fiver in, claims go against the pot and any leftovers goes to a charity of the Captains choice?

I’ve received gifts from foreign buyers they tend to come from Amazon or equally large company. No wrapping paper but no customs costs either.

For the years I was organizing PHSS, I tried to match up international PHSSers either with other international ones or those in the UK that agreed to send/receive internationally.

We could either have UK to UK and international to international or on the intake form we could have people specify if they object to receiving international parcels with the risk of taxes/duties?

Who'd have thought Brexit's long fingers would extend into PHSS rolleyes

That what I’ve been doing previously when matching, if someone says theyre happy to do international its great - we usually have more than enough saying ‘Yes’ each year.

I do think we’ll have the tweak the question this year to make this clear as its not just about postage anymore but also costs to the victim.

The idea someone mentioned about sending to an international victim from a local store is a good point!

I'm very glad you have decided to continue, as your gifts have always been excellent! My sportscar book still sits proudly on display in my office.

........Thankyou My PHSS, I still haven't had time to myself for the model but will be doing it soon. bounce
While sorting stuff for this year's SS I noticed I never did post a completed pic of the model.

I was supprised how well wooden parts could be made to fit together and work as a machine.

The following pic is in action, I seem to recall it was impossible to capture an image when the revs where showing on the dial as you needed 2 hands to steady and crank the machine. You can just about make out It was still moving in the snap.

Thanks again for the thoughtful gifts my SS looking forward to shopping for this year's victim.
