Only two people right now I would pay to see, Bill burr and Louis CK.

Maybe Dave Chappelle.

A lot of love for Reginald D Hunter. I saw him once at Swindon and he was poor, he appeared to be a bit bored tbh

Jason Manford was good
Stephen K Amos hilarious
Jimmy Carr at a corporate gig also very good.

And Trevor Noah the standout, very very good. All these were the best part of a decade ago though

Must get out more.

Got tickets to see Jimeoin in Feb next year, haven't seen him live before so looking forward to it. Also fancy going to see Gary Delaney, Steve Hughes and James Acaster.

Living approx half way between Glasgow and Edinburgh is handy for the Fringe Festival or The Stand in Glasgow, been to see a fair few comedians over the past few years, Frankie Boyle a few times, Dara O'Brian, Milton Jones, Tim Vine, Rhod Gilbert, Michael MacIntyre, Stewart Francis, Johnny Vegas (who has very drunk), Ricky Gervais & Roy 'Chubby' Brown.

Frankie is always good but both times we've seen Stewart Francis he was THE best stand-up i've ever been to.

Wouldn't mind going to see Kerry Godliman, Rachel Parris, Angela Barnes or Tiff Stevenson.

Nish Kumar, Zoe Lyons, Jo Caulfield, Micky Flannigan, Gina Yashere, Jimmy Carr and Kevin Bridges can all fk right off though. Maisie Adams too. Especially Maisie Adams.

No idea how either of those could possibly appear in a discussion about comedy.

I'm toying with seeing Chappelle tomorrow at the garden for his movie screening + him & friends. It's dropped to a still pricey $88 resale per ticket (they were going for $1000+ last week!) up in the nosebleeds...or $165 for a decent lower seat.
Not a fan of big venues for comedy (or the garden for that matter, its awful) but it's Chappelle, the GOAT, plus no doubt some big name friends, and I have seen him enough times to know it will be a good show.

You dont go to comedy often do you.
Its usually an hour with no interval ime.
I haven't been for a couple of years but most comics I've seen do their own introductions and 2 halves either side of an interval without a support act....more money for them I guess
I saw Ken Dodd 10 years or do ago. He did a full 3 hours with just a 10 minute break while a magician did his turn.

Then we had the interval followed by another couple of hours!! 12.30 was an early finish for Doddy.

Watched him In York pre pandemic. Judging by tour pictures it's likely the same material.
I was really disappointed.

Would've loved to have seen him live.

One of those classic entertainers - genuinely funny, thoughtful, self-deprecating. Comedy genuis.

We saw Ken Dodd maybe 10 years ago now in Southport. I think we stayed till around midnight and then left, plenty had left before us, but equally there we plenty left. I think he just kept going until there was no one left in the theatre !

There were other acts on as well, 2 different signers but I can't recall any other types of act. I assumed Mr Dodd went for a rest/kip/lie down when they were on.

I've just looked him up and it's 3 and a half years ago since he died. There will never be anyone quite like him again I'm sure.

We saw Gary Delaney last night at The Stand in Edinburgh. New show and still 90 minutes of filth (but clever filth). Superb! He's back there month and we're going again.

Stewart Francis was absolutely epic. Just clever puns, callbacks, innuendo and some just stupid stuff, delivered deadpan. Sadly he retired at the end of 2019 but lives locally in Musselburgh.

Went to see him just before ehe died, took my mother for her birthday as she loved him and she'd seem him loads of times. It was quite sad really, he kept forgetting his lines, but being the professional he was and having an immense amount of material he just carried on with another joke, so recovered well. However it was enough to take the shine off his performance.

Show started around 7:30pm and the interval wasn't until 11pm!!!! My mother turned to me and said that she didn't want to see anymore as he wasn't the Ken Dod she had loved all her life, so we left. I agreed with her, he was no longer on his game, but it was great to see him live for my first time.

Much like Forsyth, Monkhouse etc, he was one of the very last of the very greats, never to be followed and of an era never to be seen again.

Jimmy and Kevin are good, I wouldn't have them in the same group as Nish and Masie Adams!

He did a show at the Fringe a few years ago. 50 mins of reasonably funny material, all nicely tied together and looked like it was planned and practiced. Then at the end to fill the last 10 mins did a joke about Katie Price's disabled son, which had no relevance to anything else in the set, took ages to get to the punchline, and wasn't at all funny. Really weird. Almost like he had a good set and then found out it was too short. Wouldn't rush to see him again.

I've just bought tickets to see Barry Humphries tour - The Man Behind the Mask, telling the story of his life in entertainment.

Being another of those old time comedians that was always on the TV when I was growing up. He's getting on now so will be good to see him whilst he's still here, just as I saw Ken Dodd before he left us.

Billy Connelly, a good few years ago, went on for ages and I laughed so much my jaw ached and my sides hurt, absolutely brilliant. A very, very funny man and so sad that his health is deteriorating now.

Ken Dodd and Robin Williams were two comedy legends, sadly no chance of seeing them now.

Stewart Lee, very funny and high brow, seen him a few times and always a good show.

Rickie Gervais, very funny as was Sean Lock (RIP)

Eddie Izzard, seen him/her many times over the years as he often practice runs his shows in Bexhill. Used to be brilliant, now as a woman, she isn't as funny. Shame really. I would agree that most female comedians are a disappointment, Jo Brand was awful, most of her jokes were cringworthy they were so old, I would however like to see Aisling Bea, I think she's very funny, as is Claudia Winkleman (controversial, I know), although I doubt it would translate well to stand up.

The Comedy Store Players are also well worth seeing for really entertaining improv, professionals who are at the top of that game.

Went to see Bill Bailey in Manchester last night.
Overall I thought it was a poor show. He had a little bit of comedy which was ok.
It was predominantly him playing a variety of instruments which was very basic.
Not sure why the crowd thought him opening a pedal bin with a light shining on it was funny, but it summed up his style of comedy.
Definitely won't be seeing him again.

Plus side is the Dakota hotel has terrific beds

I've recently seen Jamie Hutchinson a couple of times at live events by the Have a Word podcast. He had me in hysterics both times. I'm not sure how much of that was down to the conversational style of the format in which he dropped numerous hilarious anecdotes but I'll definietley look out for him on club bills next year.
