GR if you think you can fix my loose end I'm all ears!

Bobbers, that sounds like quite the productive morning you've had there. Battert was brewing up a batch of his nerve and brain tonic at the weekend and I think you'll need some after such a busy day!
I have some Gorilla glue, but I haven't encountered any broken Gorillas as yet.

I'm will8ng to give it a try if you are, but you'll have to hold still whilst it sets.

Yes, poor Bobbers must be ready for a nap by now. sleep

There was a really good documentary on the Ms & Ps on one of the freeview channels last Christmas (it'll probably be shown again sometime), hit after hit, they wrote some cracking songs, all beautifully recorded too. Back then US recording studios were way ahead of British ones, the Beatles were pushing the limits of four track machines on 'Sgt.Pepper' while over in the states they had 16, 32 and (I think) 72 track recording machines. Trivial, boring stuff to most people I'd imagine but I'm fascinated by it.

The Ms & Ps liked their cars too... driving

That's a lovely rear end on that E-Type! cloud9

I was a big fan of the M & P's back then - I still am. Their music brings back some very happy memories.
One of my most prized albums was a double LP vinyl called 'A Gathering of Flowers', an Anthology of the Mamas and Papas.
It contained a lot of their big hits and some lesser known, and was interspersed with their comments on their story in their own words.

Somebody who shall remain nameless donated it, along with most of my other prized records, to the local school jumble sale.
This did not make glenrobbo a very happy bunny. ranting

I have a friend who 'always' tells us about how to tell a mk1 to a mk2 e-type, whether the rear lights are above or below the bumper

When i still lived at home and had vinyl, i had some fairly obscure and rare LP's - amongst which was the only singed copy in existence of Denim & Leather by Saxon - and when i moved out, they stayed at home,
Quite reasonably, Mum decided that she needed to move them on as they had been sat there for years not doing anything - if only i knew then what i know now etc - and contacted the local record shop who buy second hand stuff.
Guy comes out, spots a few of the rarities including the signed copy and says he doesn't really want everything but he will take them and offers mum a price, which being mum, she accepted without quibble.

Cue 5 years or so later when i am now back home - long story - and when discussing where all my old LP's are, we got around to the price she got for them. Please do bear in mind there was probably 60 LP's all told.
"Oh yes, the nice man from David's gave me a good price, especially for that signed LP"
" Oh yes, how much did you make?"
" £75 for the whole lot"

" I hope you're joking mum?"
" Oh no, he assured me it was a very good price"
banghead

"yes well he would, as he got the steal of the century"
"What do you mean?"
"Mum....it was the only copy of that album that was ever officially signed, it was worth an awful lot more than the money he gave you for everything"

ranting

Bless her, she had the uncanny knack of finding the people who would give the least amount in return for getting the most in return, especially where car dealers and tradespeople was concerned.

My goodness you must have played that a lot if it was burnt!

That record brought us all together and it was you who set the spirit free.

Thanks, Mallard, I'll tell her to order it, and see if there are any more of my long lost favourites available.

These days most choons can be downloaded from the skyweb or somewhere, though this cannot compensate for the hurt I felt at the time. frown

It's just not the same as having the actual LP in your sticky mitts though - somewhere upstairs I have a copy of The Stones '66 long player 'Aftermath' with Charlie Watts and Brian Jones signatures scrawled on the back (given to me by my Mum), the cardboard sleeve has a lovely musty smell to it, a bit like the interior of one of my old Rover P6s cloud9

IOTN - The big BIGBIG Boss - owner of the company - is coming in tomorrow from Japan to visit. It may well be squeaky bum time as i am sure there will be something that displease him and i am equally positive that my boss, will lay the blame squarely at my door to our MD who will no doubt have something to say about it.

I don't want to play tomorrow

Have you considered a selection of desk based novelty items to lighten the mood.

You know the kind of thing "A round tuit" and a "you don't have to be mad to work here" sign.

Many thanks to 1000 Miglia for pointing me towards Legless Alex's persts... fascinating, and what a wonderful A100 he is producing, and no mistake.

Evemorn all! wavey

Today has been interesting, what with Mid Sis from the Land o' the Long White Cloud, running amok in the wine aisle and soap section in a desperate attempt to reproduce Kiwi life!rolleyes

I have no idea what capsicum might be used for, or why it was necessary to bring coffee and peppermints from NZ??? confused

IOTN: 'ousemade's (!) knee has settled back and the swelling is Les Tender....
