I hadn't seen a photo of the Lyneham Banks subsidence! I've followed the diversions many times through the villages, but didn't realise how bad it was! I wonder how much of that is due to the weight of the military vehicles?
It looks to me that water running down the hill has washed away the material under the road.

Makes sense. It can be prone to flooding in the surrounding area.

A whole morning lost going for an eye test!
If I give you a prescription for glasses for driving. Will you wear them?
No
Oh ok then,I won't give you one.
Just have a reading glasses prescription then.

Ta da.

Home now. It's extremely warm. I noticed some winter barley on the turn already! Never seen it that early here.

Mallard?
No just a slight headache.

I'm going to tell you my formula 1 story .

I was so offended by the finale in Abu Dhabi 2021 , I promised not to watch it again....ever !

I turned off the tv when the chequered flag fell in Abu and went out for a bit ,I turned tv back on when returned home and the F1 after party was in full swing and Christian Horner was being interviewed ,I turned over straight away .

Since then I have not seen or heard any Formula 1 stuff ,not a thing .

I do not know who has won the 5 ? races so far , or who crashed ,or who has had a hissy fit .

If successful ,this time next year I won't even know who the 2022 champion is .

Once again I stumbled upon a Formula E race ,in Monaco few weeks ago ,I watched 15 minutes of Vernon and Queen of Formula E Nikki doing inane grid interviews ,the race started ,I lasted less than 2 laps before switching off .

The WRC is better this year ,9 times champion Sebastien Loeb returned for a part season in the new Ford Puma and promptly won first time out in Monte Carlo , with a new co driver a female school teacher .

" Monsieur le headmaster ?.....please may i have next week off ,I am co driving Mr Loeb in the Monte Carlo rally "

"Yes of course you are my petit colleague , ".....walks away ,swearing in la Francais ...."taureau merde "

The BTCC has been good too , although all the chit chat about hybrid stuff makes me yawn .

That is all .

Some GT racing on Freesports would be nice if I can find it .
At least you were spared the FIA taking the whole wretched circus down to the wire hoping Mercedes would fold and they could pretend it didn't happen. It was all so humiliating.
I have not watched four wheeled motor racing for years now as it is mostly rubbish viewing. I much prefer two wheeled motorsport and if i'm being honest, Superbikes.
To be specific, BSB, WSBK and the yearly footage of the TT.
WSBK and BSB produce more overtaking in one race than has been seen in F1 for years and if really wanted to watch a boring procession that much, i could go watch the annual British Legion parade.

BTCC was really entertaining on Sunday. The wet, dry, wetter conditions really brought out the variances in tyre choice and drivetrain.

IOTN I'm in Blackburn, Lancashire today. Not seen many holes but it's warm out and even warmer in the office wot I've been given for the day.

I watched Homes under the hammer earlier , well the bit about the first house in Brixton of the south that London .

It was the usual condition inside , for the programme , scruffy , needs fair bit of work .

Auction guide the price at £660 K , first bid @ £670 K , they skipped much of the bidding and came back in at £900 K and

it sold for £908 K presumably plus substantial fees .

Then the buyer is interviewed by wee Martel , he didn't even view the inside of the house before bidding 90% of £1M .

Madness I tell you !.

Filmed in 2018 .

I switched off after that , mind blown ......jestersillynutsblahwobblerotate

My great grandma Bullock joined the British Legion having been widowed in the First War. Her husband, my great grandad Jesse Bullock, was called up at the age of 37 to serve in one of the Labour Companies. He was gassed several times but, in common with many others one would suspect, was pronounced fit each time. He died in 1919 from the effects of the gas and grandma Bullock had to go out cleaning to make ends meet. This she did for the rest of her life. One of the ladies she cleaned for was a driving force behind the British Legion in Walton. When she discovered that her cleaner wasn't entitled to a War Widow's Pension because Jesse died after he was demobbed, she lobbied all and sundry to have the decision overturned. The pension when it came was microscopic, a shilling a week IIRC, but better than nothing. Probably because of this, Jesse Bullock also qualified to have his name on the War Memorial. Great grandma Bullock's proudest moment was to be a flag bearer at the Festival of Remembrance at the Albert Hall. She died three years before I was born. I would have loved to have met her. Lost her husband, gassed in the First War, and her house, destroyed by a V-1 Flying Bomb in the Second War.

None really there anymore. Everything moved to Brize some time ago

The ground underneath just washed away in the storms. It happened about 20 years ago as well.

Ah, fair enough! I wasn't in this area back then. I look forward to further disruption in ~20 years, in that case! biggrin

Ah yes now y'see, i wasn't denigrating the British Legion or it's members whatsoever, i was merely suggesting that their annual procession is somewhat boring. Like Formula 1 is and has been for some time.

Oh, mate, I didn't think you were for one moment. Your post reminded me of my great grandparents Bullock. And that gave me the lead to tell one of me stories.

That's it. Top, bottom and both ends.

I find that really sad PericolosivaBarchetta1000Milia, why don't you just stay in the residents lounge???

It's been a long, interesting day, meetings, discussions, a prove out, an argument, an acceptance of one of my applications and a lot of laughs!!!

Evemorn all! wavey

Eventful day, applying vinyl stickers to P Trio in readiness for launch to the sea, and beyond! bounce

A day of cleaning bird poop off the deck is next on the list, and no mistake...

IOTN: More Alpine research today, but there is a definite itch about ol' Pequod's desire of summat special, and that there A110 has my attention for all the right reasons, furshore.

IOOTN: I worry about slopes...

That A110 Alpine does look good, not really my sort of thing though. Futtette likes it:

"Ooh, that's nice Bom. Does the roof come down and has it got an air scarf?"

"No it doesn't, I'm afraid"

"Oh that's a bugger. It looks like one of your Hot Wheels cars"

"They're not mine, they're Grandbomma's. And there is one of those in the collection"

"Oh right. Does she know that you play with them when she's not here?"

"No"

"Do you want me to tell her?"

"No"

"Make a brew and get us a bit of cake then, I'll think about it"
