I always thought (in my younger brain) that Vangelis did the theme for Johnny Balls "Think Again", a series that got me into science as a child:

Francis Monkman - The Achievements of Man

It seems the latter broadly emulated the former...

Vangelis - very sad to hear that. The music from "Cosmos" was from his album "Heaven and Hell" as I recall
"Pulstar" was the theme for the BBC1 program "Horses Galore" in the 1970s. I first heard it as a teenager and always wondered who did it. Then I heard his album "Albedo 0.39" and it was on there. I was a happy boy !

Terribly sad news about Vangelis.
A genius composer and electronic pioneer who did some amazing work with soundtracks. The music from Blade Runner is the theme to a very important part of my life and will always be.
Off to put it on now.

Colin Cantrell, designer of the iconic spaceships from Star Wars.. X wing, Tie Fighter, etc. Apparently because the Death Star mould had a gap where the 2 halves joined, to save a week's work in filling it, he suggested to George Lucas that the Death Star had a trench running around it, he liked the idea, and that led to the best scene of the film
Side note: The Millenium Falcon was the last 'ship' built in Pembrook Docks, and they've just opened an exhibition

Colin Cantwell, the chap who came up with original designs and concept models for the Death Star, X-Wing and Tie Fighter.
He also worked for CBS with Walter Cronkite during the Apollo 11 moon landing.
He was also instrumental in designing some of the scenes in "2001: A Space Odyssey". Apparently, the opening title sequence showing the lined up earth, moon and sun was his idea. He also worked for CBS with Walter Cronkite during the Apollo 11 moon landing.
