Same here, though that's the first non-obvious* one that I guessed on the first go though.

*as in, not an easily recognisable island or country, like Madagascar, or France.

Oh yes!

Mind you tried my usual words and scored blank with all of those.

Yesterday was epoxy which they’d never heard of but I’ve been using for years so it was easy for me.

I was stumped.

Then suddenly realised I did have 4 letters and two guesses left, it really was a wild punt. Quickly followed by a Google of said word.

Yep, that's the site I've been using since they switched to NYT, if I refresh the site on my mobile I still get one word, but if I open it on the PC I get another...

I had one where I was "working on" the puzzle at midnight, and after I closed the page, then re-entered it, it wouldn't give me the next day's puzzle.

Also annoying me of late? Losing my "streak" when I don't manage to play on a given day. Surely you should only lose your "sreak" if you fail to solve the puzzle?

Also irritating me? Another puzzle site I use (Best Codeword App) is rife with "cheating". I'm pretty fast at solving the codeword puzzles (numbered squares, 1 to 26, each number corresponds with a letter of the alphabet, all letters used at least one, etc). So I was somewhat surprised to see many people with much higher scores than me (bonus points are given for every 10-second period you manage to complete the puzzle under 5 minutes). Then I realised how that works. Open the puzzle on laptop/desktop. Solve it. Immediately open the app on your mobile/tablet and solve it again, this time forearmed with the solution. Kerrrrrrrching! Bonus points aplenty.

Same works for the Worldle and Wordle puzzles. Solve it on one device, or even fail to solve it, it gives you the answer after all your guesses are used up anyway. Then open it on another device and "Boom!" Got it in one! Or if you're really sly, tailor your starting guess to the solution and guess it in two, or perhaps three. Easy way to maintain a 100% win rate and a streak as long as your arm even if your name is Tim Nice-But-Dim.

But yeah. I don't play every day, and losing my "streak" when I've not "failed" to solve any of the puzzles I've actually played is my biggest irritation with Wordle/Worldle.

Re the cheating, it's just like hackers in online games, they're only kidding themselves.

Today, scraped a 6, but also I've lost a few streaks through simply forgetting.
Better at Worldle (the map one) than the words. But then I'm a map / chart freak

No your streak is measured daily. You need solve the puzzle every day to maintain the streak. Miss a day, your streak goes down.

No doubt it's one of the things that attracted NYT to buy the game, as it encourages users to return daily.
