Still sunny and warm during the days here - and due to be 24c next week. Evenings are very autumnal at last, and the leaves are finally turning yellow and red. Forecast is incredibly changeable; next week had a daytime low of 14c at one point, no where near that now.

Where'd the winter thread go? I could have sworn I'd seen one.

It's 5.6 outside in Chesterfield at the moment but a snuggly warm 16 in here.

Bring on the snow, it's been a while (12 years) since we had a decent amount.

You forgot last November then?

Just back from a trip to Malta & Gozo, contrasting the beautiful weather there (high 20’s) with what we have here..

The weather has been good enough for me to take the Atom to Tesco when shopping this morning.

In Chesterfield we had an inch and a half between 3:20 and 8:00 on November 27th and more during the afternoon the following day. It had thawed by lunch time.

I don't think it was until early January that we had any more.

Yes I saw the winter thread but it disappeared again.

12 years ago was the “legendary” 2010 winter. I had a selfie from that winter when I was running just below Stanage edge with a snow drift behind me that had been cut out to open up the road between Scotsman’s Pack and Burgage Bridge upper. It was about 15ft high but nobody believes me. I don’t have the photo any more but it was that big. Honest!

Also, Feb ‘21 had a few really decent falls of snow over the space of 4 or 5 days. A good 4-6in just up the road in Sheffield.

That was from 8th Feb 2021 - the last of 3 decent snowfalls over the previous week. The black thing in the foreground is my Sprocker spaniel. He loves the snow, it sends him mad!!

Cold here this morning I thought, in sight of the sea. 7.5°c... Saw 1°c in the car a few miles inland.

24c in Colorado today. Nighttime low this week of 3c, though. I still think it'll be November before we see snow.

A tiny bit of snow in Mont Tremblant QC on Saturday, went for a hike up the mountain and it was -1C at the top at 1pm, wind chill made it feel a lot less. Glorious and warm today after a chilly start. Looks like winter has been put on hold for another week. Back to southern England tomorrow/Thursday where it’s looking remarkably mild.

That was 4" delivered by Storm Arwen, pictured just 50 miles from you and I think Snake pass (which is much closer) will have been blocked. Last November most of the UK saw a lot of very rare and early snow, then not much for the rest of Winter.
I think the B from the E was Feb 2018, that was the harshest in recent years. I remember the waste pipes on the house freezing, being unable to drain the sink and that was a first in 20 odd years.
You're right though, we need a Winter thread now!

The Winter thread is started once certain criteria are met and the necessary boxes can be ticked.

I can never remember what those criteria are, but seem to recall it is something to with a PH'er snow-foam washing their car and eating a Scotch egg with salad cream whilst howling at the clouds.

And you have to go outside turn around 3 times and spit.

Mowing again.

It was 27c yesterday. But the trees are turning yellow and red and the wind is from Siberia instead of the Sahara.
