Cracking very long weekend here. Took the kids up to Reading Weds and Thurs, gardening Friday/Sat, friends over for BBQ Sat, went up to London Sun, family over on Mon, put the kids on a train to Devon yesterday and then lots of DIY.

Still no rain here - garden is gasping for it and my butts are empty for various reasons (moving, new ones, filling new pond).

Moving forward - high pressure and warmth for a return is the form horse.

Yep - totally standard.

Just had a lovely walk around the village - was a cold morning, but it's scorchio out of the wind.

Seeing a warming trend building up nicely - 20 degrees widely in the South for Thursday.

Heavy showers also possible today/tomorrow. I hope so, my butts are all empty!

Increasing signs for a hot mid May.

Glad the garden caught a sharp shower today, but butts remain empty.

A lot of gardeners reporting slow and stunted growth over the last few weeks, especially on veg, toms etc.
Hopefully this incoming warmer spell does arrive and carries on so the plants will catch up.
They've done fine in our greenhouse hehe

Good news for Colin - the heat is still coming, but watered down to a very pleasant low 20s.

Marked rise in the risk of thunder too...

Ooo ooo ooo, did you mention thunder.

French imports or homegrown stuff?
Too early! But humid air being dragged up from the south.

First proper wide thunder risk of the year for early hours of Sunday in southern areas. Still not quite sure where.

Risk of thunder through to Wednesday, but moves around a bit.

Southern counties remain most likely place for thunder today, with a small chance of a whopper clipping Kent.

Storms could pop up anywhere though.

Mahoosive super cell over Normandy. Heading north.

I guess it will fizzle out over the Channel...

It made it over. Time to shut the curtains. biggrin

The supercell headed NE to Kent/Sussex and fell apart.

The stuff hitting Hants was much smaller!

Big day of storms ahead tomorrow - probably the peak of the current series. Kent likely to win overall, but a wide risk...

As per yesterday, watch Hampshire to Kent... This could be a real whopper... Strangely no MetOffice warnings at this point.

The Met office app said we'd have heavy rain for 2 hours in North Essex last night and we got a light shower lasting 20 minutes.
Will this happen? I'll put the garden cushions away just to be safe biggrin

As always with storms - it's hit or miss. Some parts in the middle of the highest zones will see nothing, people will complain the warning was wrong...

A small rash of storms just appearing in the Channel Islands. This is tonight's main course which will head NE.

Sussex remains most likely to be hit.

As usual, storms split and passed either side of us. Lost count of the number of times this happens irked

Could see and hear it in the distance for around 5 mins
